#rockbox log for 2011-11-21

00:00:15pamauryI'm still at the same point, setting the frequnecy will not work
00:05:45bertrikthen make the tune-loop a for-loop temporarily
00:06:49bertrikI'll whip up a patch
00:06:59pamaurywhat is strange is that I tried to add a check in the loop for a scan failure and now it works but it takes a long time
00:12:36 Quit Horschti (Quit: Verlassend)
00:12:46bertriksomething like this: http://pastebin.com/Rmfe4BnU (it compiles, but I haven't tested it)
00:13:23pamaurythat's not really interesting, if tuning fails, the radio will not work

00:14:17pamauryanyway I will go to bed, thanks for your help
00:14:38Jeremy28092Hello
00:15:27Jeremy28092I have a question about your tool for unlocking ata passwords on hdd's
00:15:52Jeremy28092will the liux version unlock a windows drive?
00:16:00Jeremy28092linux*
00:16:21funmanJeremy28092: which tool exactly?
00:16:34 Quit pamaury (Remote host closed the connection)
00:16:45Jeremy28092isd linux driver patch
00:17:26 Quit Keripo (Quit: Leaving.)
00:17:47funmani see it's made by Zagor but i don't think it is linked to rockbox at all
00:18:08Bagderonly in the sense that I was needed back in 2002 or so
00:18:17Jeremy28092I have a small repair shop and I have a client that rents acer laptops and I get alot of these in it would be easier for me to just set up a linux box to unlock these than to go through the hassle of using atapwd everytime
00:18:20Bagderwhen people accidentally got their drives locked for rockbox work
00:19:12Jeremy28092so the atapwd won't work either?
00:19:53Bagder"we" as in Rockbox haven't used anything of that since 2002
00:19:58Jeremy28092if not does anyone know of a way to unlock these hdd's?
00:20:00Bagderif you can find it and use it, have ago at it
00:20:24Jeremy28092Im going to try tomorrow
00:21:02Jeremy28092I really hope it works because other than your site I have found nothing that will open these drives
00:21:12Jeremy28092it is very frustrating lol
00:22:57Jeremy28092well thank you for the help guys have a nice night

10:15:50GodEater_kugel: that's a bit of a pain isn't it? Is it something we can work around, or do we need those function?
10:16:35kugelr5b: http://pastie.org/2896848, r7: http://pastie.org/2896845
10:16:56kugelgcc generates calls to that, libc doesnt provide them anymore
10:17:18kugelI'd say it's a bug in the ndk (and an abi break anyway)
10:17:37GodEater_I've got r6 at home - but not with me at work so I can't provide the pastes for it, though I imagine they're very similar t r5
10:17:56kugelwell, not abi break, but api (I assume the libc on the device still has it)
10:18:04GodEater_the release notes for r7 make some mention of removed functions =/
10:18:25kugelit's essential division functions
10:19:23GodEater_"Removed many unwanted exported symbols from the link-time shared system libraries provided by the NDK. This ensures that code generated with the standalone toolchain doesn't risk to accidentally depend on a non-stable ABI symbol (e.g. any libgcc.a symbol that changes each time the toolchain used to build the platform is changed)"
10:19:36GodEater_not sure if that's the same thing or not - it's a bit vague
10:21:01kugelperhaps

22:59:51gevaertsJdGordon: is there some documentation for FS #12398? How do I actually confirm a choice?
22:59:51fs-bluebothttp://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12398 Give the random folder advance config a UI revamp (patches, new)
23:00
23:00:21JdGordonit will have a "save and exit" menu when you back out once it is finished
23:00:42gevaertsSo does it actually do anything now?
23:01:00JdGordonyeah, back out and it saves the selections
23:01:29JdGordonI origionally wanted to use that for the database folder chooser but couldnt get it to work, so it will work nicely here instead/also
23:01:40gevaertsAh, right. So saving as a playlist is gone for now I guess
23:02:30***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
23:02:44JdGordonfor now... i'll obviously reimplement everything before commiting
23:02:49*gevaerts nods
23:02:57JdGordonwhat do you tinhk of the ui though?
23:04:33gevaertsIt takes a bit of getting used to (like any ui), but it works well after that
23:05:01JdGordonsurely nicer than the current one? :)
23:05:17gevaertsI don't mind set and forget text files :)

23:06:07gevaertsOne thing I'm not sure about is backing out to finalise the selection. Is there some way to get out without changing anything, or is that left to the calling menu?

23:07:14JdGordonbacking out will give you the option of saving or not
23:07:28gevaertsok
23:09:43gevaertshm, I'm not sure how useful the exclusion feature was. I don't need it on my collection, but maybe some people do
23:10:53JdGordonuseful for raaa apparently
23:11:06JdGordonstop it trying to load folders that cant possibly have music
23:11:13jhMikeSpamaury: setting the in/out sources to the same is a loopback setting
23:11:40gevaertsWell yes, but I was thinking about random folder advance :)

23:13:00JdGordonif it isnt wanted it doesnt go in
23:13:09JdGordonwhich would be a bit of a shame :)
23:13:17pamauryjhMikeS: my question was more about: how can you make a different between a radio->headphone path and a radio->pcm_recor->headphone one
23:13:22*gevaerts suspects a misunderstanding
23:13:22pamaury*difference
23:14:26funmanZagor: ping when you're available
23:14:37jhMikeSpamaury: that is what's normally done
23:15:05gevaertsJdGordon: the old random folder advance config file (folder_advance_dir.txt) allowed prefixing a line with '-' to exclude a subtree
23:15:42pamauryjhMikeS: I don't understand your answer, how can I tell if I must rockbox is recording or not ?
23:15:53pamaury*-must
23:16:09JdGordongevaerts: ah well no, the .txt file is a human readable copy of the .dat which is what is actually used
23:16:11jhMikeSin the core recording or elsewhere?
23:16:29JdGordonso the - in the txt is to stop that folder being walked for the .dat
23:16:45jhMikeSpamaury: pcm_record.c call the function to have it monitor the signal (for core)
23:17:01pamauryjhMikeS: which function and with which parameters ?
23:17:07pamaurythe source is not enough
23:17:17jhMikeSaudio_set_output_source
23:17:19gevaertsJdGordon: right, so the new UI can't currently do "random advance anywhere except a/b/c" yet
23:18:02pamaurybut audio_set_output_source cannot only has the source so it can't make a difference between recording and not recording right ?
23:18:04jhMikeSusing input=<something not playback> and output=playback allows full duplex recording and playback
23:18:30JdGordongevaerts: yes and no. you can easily deselect a whole tree, though you can easily select a whole tree

23:18:42JdGordonill look into stealing the audio buffer to make that work though
23:18:51gevaertsJdGordon: but you have to do that again every time
23:18:52jhMikeSpamaury: it's really only to set what is monitored in the headphone/line-out and not what is recorded
23:19:06pamaurywhat does monitoring mean ?
23:19:13JdGordongevaerts: no?
23:19:55jhMikeSpamaury: playing back what is received from the ADC or SPDIF
23:20:04jhMikeSor whatever source

23:21:01gevaertsJdGordon: if I add a directory, it won't get included in the random advance bit unless I rerun the plugin IIRC. With the old plugin, I'd just have folder_advance_dir.txt exclude a/b/c and regenerate the datafile every now and then. How would you handle this in the new world?
23:21:10jhMikeSmonitoring playback means you head what is ouput from the PCM driver

23:21:35*gevaerts has this thought that the new UI would be ideal to edit folder_advance_dir.txt, but not really for the actual generated list
23:22:02 Quit Keripo (Quit: Leaving.)
23:22:28JdGordongevaerts: not quite, it autoloads the .dat file so if you are adding a tree you'd only need to select that tree and exit
23:22:29jhMikeSpamaury: during recording, we want to hear the digital signal at the correct sample rate, with the audio input gains applied, not the analog tuner output
23:23:02jhMikeSpamaury: same thing for mic or line-in really
23:23:06pamauryjhMikeS: so, to be concrete. audio_set_output_source(AUDIO_SRC_PLAYBACK) means playing the output of the DAC and audio_set_output_source(AUDIO_SRC_FMRADIO) ? And audio_input_mux selects the ADC input ?
23:23:20gevaertsJdGordon: right, so you have to actually go and look every time, as opposed to just hitting "Generate Folder List"
23:24:12JdGordoni guess so. OK, you may be right about only using it to build the .txt
23:24:47jhMikeSpamaury: generally that's the case. whatever it does internally should make sense.
23:24:56gevaertsWell, *that* txt. There's also the human readable version of the .dat, but that's not too interesting :)
23:25:32pamauryjhMikeS: and even if I'm not recording, I need to go through ADC->DAC ?
23:26:21jhMikeSpamaury: no, though there could be advantages to that if you audio chip has a digital mixer (like the uda1380 which does use the ADC->DAC loopback for normal FM)
23:26:22funmaniirc on AMS we hear tuner/mic output, not processed PCM
23:27:50pamauryjhMikeS: what does the flag parameter mean in audio_input_mux ?
23:28:05jhMikeSfunman: it should monitor the ADC->gain->DAC path when recording so the user can get an accurate representation of what is being saved
23:29:01funmani think we don't support simultaneous playback and recording
23:29:14jhMikeSpamaury: isn't the only one SRCF_RECORDING to mean to set up the path for recording. that way a digital path for the source with ADC can be used rather than a simple analog bypass
23:29:18funmanthere are only 2 DMA channels and the other one is taken by SD
23:29:49pamauryjhMikeS: ok, I think that answer my question
23:29:54jhMikeSfunman: you'd have to forego DMA recording there indeed, which could also fix the amplitude problem
23:30:56funmanbut foregoing DMA recording wouldn't affect output?
23:30:58jhMikeSpamaury: how you coordinate it all is a hardware-specific consideration
23:31:24pamaurysure, but I first need to understand the software one to tell the hardware :)

23:34:24jhMikeSfunman: it could, just mod the stuff in the ISR and do explicit loopback like on PP5024, then monitoring will be accurate (you can even have proper sample rates since the adc divides f by 2).
