12:03:54gevaertsWell, after the next big binsize increase
12:04:00wodzI see only two reasonable solutions for binsize problem: 1) switch to regular bootloader 2) branch
12:04:17*gevaerts nods
12:04:28wodzI tend to think that considering the age of the targets branching is better
12:04:47gevaertsIn the short term dircache can be disabled for the 8MB build, but that's not a real solution
12:07:54gevaertsWe've been trading ram usage for binsize recently, so I think things are a bit better for the lowmem targets than they were a few months ago, but this binsize limit is annoying
12:09:33gevaertsAnd we also shouldn't forget that the clipv1 or c200v2 (although the latter never got to a usable state, partly because of this very issue) also only have 2MB (or 2.3)
12:12:53wodzso what do You propose?
12:13:40wodzdoes clipv1 use thumb build?
12:14:32gevaertsI think the archos solution is the bootloader
12:15:28gevaertsYes, I think it uses thumb
12:16:01gevaertsWhat I mean is that the memory issues aren't just the old archoses, and they won't magically go away by branching those off
12:16:03CIA-10New commit by jdgordon (r31082): Fix fs#12005 - have %pc,%pl and %pr return the number of seconds when used with %if() instead of a formatted time string
12:17:43wodzgevaerts: well the true benefit of branching would be possibility to massive code cleanups and simplifications. We will get rid of few dozen ifdefs etc.

12:27:15kugelokay
12:27:32gevaertsIt's low risk, but I really think we should only do critical fixes

12:28:18JdGordonwell, sort of
12:28:27JdGordonfree the buffer if the file isnt loaded
12:28:55gevaertsI did that one yesterday I think
12:29:02gevaertswell, you asked for it :)
12:29:24JdGordonah cool
12:29:56gevaertsThe %pc,%pl and %pr thing *never* worked, and those aren't exactly new tags, so yes, that's a new feature :)
12:30:50JdGordonwe are starting to get alot of tags which duplicate other tags in a worse way
12:31:00JdGordondeprecating them isnt so easy
12:31:28*gevaerts nods
12:31:46JdGordonits not really a big deal, just something to think about
12:32:04JdGordoni.e that commit makes %pE/L redundant
12:32:19gevaertsWe should consider marking them as deprecated and having checkwps warn, and not accept new theme site uploads with those
12:32:29gevaertsThen a year later we can drop them :)
12:33:31kugelgood idea. then we can deprecate all settings-related tags from before %St was introduced
12:37:52JdGordonits not so simple. I want to deprecate the horrible subimage display tag %xd(Aa) but every single bloody theme does it :/
12:39:37kugelwhat do you want to replace it with?
12:40:03JdGordon%xd(label, subimage number) which is there and has been for ages
12:40:12JdGordonwhere number can also be another tag
12:40:22kugeloh, it already exists. makes sense

12:51:41*JdGordon intends on making a 1024*768 cabbie which is *the* showcase skin....
12:51:47JdGordonso, what does everyone want on it?
12:53:43LalufuPonies?
12:53:50GodEater_why that res?
12:54:04JdGordontouchpad :)
12:54:29JdGordonlandscape with a huge res gives us plenty of room to show stuff off
12:54:46kugeldoes it need to be cabbie?
12:55:01JdGordonmakes sense to be
12:56:11GodEater_seems a bit low res to me ;)
12:56:38JdGordonI just don't know where to put a 500x500 AA image!
12:57:47kugelIMO there shouldnt be _one_ showcase cabbie. ether all should be showcasing similarly or the showcase should be a distinct one
12:58:00kugelthe focus for cabbie is similarity between targets
12:58:15JdGordonthink about what that actually means for a second....
13:00
13:00:19kugelit can even look like/based on cabbiev2. but if it's very different to other cabbies it should not be default IMO
13:01:22JdGordonanyway, what I';m thinking about is splitting the display in two, the left half shows the normal portrait cabbie, the right shows various different screens which change when the user presses it
13:01:35JdGordoni.e much more track info, or a playlist, or dunno what

13:19:49JdGordonhmm, actually no, i tinhk this is wrong
13:27:31memechaserHi; I'm using Rockbox on a Sansa Clip+. It works beautifully, but when the OF starts up (when connecting to USB port on computer), it seems to be creating directories that I don't want, like AUDIBLE, MUSIC, etc. Is there a way to stop this occuring?
13:27:50memechaser(I have read the manual and FAQs but can't find the answer anywhere.)
13:28:42Torneno.
13:28:55gevaertsYou could try marking them as hidden
13:28:57TorneIf you set them as hidden, instad of deleting them, then they won't show up in rockbox most of the time
13:29:12Torne(hidden things only appear if "show files" is set to "all" instad of "supported")
13:29:25Torneif you delete them the OF will just recreate them, but it doesn't care if they are hidden
13:30:25memechaserok, thanks. I've just realised that I connect the device to my laptop and run my own script to sync podcasts and audiobooks, so could just remove the directories then if they exist. (If the OF creates them when it starts up upon connecting the device.)
