00:30:58saratoganot sure about in the works, but its probably much easier to do now given our recent audio mixer changes
00:31:08saratogai think its just hard, not technically impossible
00:32:49lxs-makot0hmm ok. i think it would definitely be a nice feature. *writes learn to c on the endless todo list*

12:06:50wodzI think the problem is that we want to pass sp,pc which are AFTER panicf and not before

12:11:13wodz\o/
12:11:34wodzthis is the most hacky code I ever did
12:12:08kugelshow off!
12:12:51wodzI take sp before entering panicf() and pc = __builtin_return_address(0) in panicf()
12:14:05wodzThe hack is in wrapper to catch sp before entering panicf(). The wrapper is naked function with trivial inline asm which do mov r4, sp
12:14:26wodzin actual panicf() I do register int sp asm("r4")
12:14:43wodzand this seems to work but according to gcc docs is not guaranteed
12:14:59kugelTorne's proposal sounds slightly less hacky
12:15:25kugeland should be equivalent
12:15:31wodzTorne's proposal doesn't work because panicf() is variadic
12:15:57kugelah right
12:16:14kugelthat means all params are on stack, right? also those before the format string?
12:16:24wodznop
12:16:31wodzfirst 4 are in regs
12:17:15kugelperhaps globals instead of params then?
12:17:54wodzright globals could do
12:18:14wodzI'll try
12:19:56TorneAll the variadic args should go on the stack
12:19:58Tornenot in registers
12:20:02Torneunless i forget how EABI works
12:20:40Torneso it should take the format string in r0 and the args on the stack
12:20:49Torneso it should be fine to add an extra nonvariadic arg in r1
12:22:02kugeland what about (int pc, int sp, char*fmt, ...)?
12:22:50*Torne checks the pcs
12:24:00Torneoh, hm
12:24:04Torneunfortunately no
12:24:30Torneyou could always do a macro/whatever
12:26:07*Torne suggests you get it working without the other args first, maybe :)

15:51:38wodzpamaury: Considering that backtrace() seems to be working could you come up with some symbols solution?
15:51:57pamaurywodz: on device you mean ?
15:52:02wodzpamaury: yes
15:54:34pamaurywodz: I'd like to, the question is where do we store the symbol map. There are several options we need to explore, like how do we handle plugins/codecs, how do we integrate the map in the final binary or use stripped debugging symbols, etc
15:54:46pamaury(do we compress, if yes, how)
15:55:35wodzpamaury: I would drop the compression for now
15:55:47pamauryyes, it's simpler
15:56:19wodzI would dedicate section at the end of binary for storing symbols
15:57:01wodzthe other questions I don't know
15:57:56pamauryI'll do my best to come up with one working solution, I guess it's be best starting point of a further discussion
15:58:06wodzyep
15:58:24wodzI would exclude plugins for size reason
15:58:47wodzcodecs are interesting though
15:59:29pamaurygood point, codecs might be useful because crappy files could crash codecs which are not robust enough
15:59:47pamauryand then debugging might be hard
16:00
16:00:21wodzfor the start lets do map for main binary
16:01:20wodzmaybe codecs could have their maps attached to the .codec and magically copied by the loader?
16:02:41pamauryI'm sure we can come up with an idea for codecs, it suffice that the map comes with the codec and the header has a pointer to it
16:03:58wodzthat way plugins can be supported as well
