00:23:01Misanthroposbut i guess there is none (yet)
00:23:48[Saint]There probably wont be, either.
00:24:23[Saint]Unless someone gets the incentive to tweak the statusbar iconset.

01:10:07[Saint]Misanthropos: for what its worth, it would be rather trivial for you to add this yourself if you desire it.
01:10:38[Saint]I could look into it, it sounds mildly useful, but it wouldn't be today.
01:11:55[Saint]And if I did so, it would only be for cabbie or themes using the built-in status-bar.
01:12:27[Saint]Other themes can do what they wish, there's no consistency required.

01:28:40Misanthropos[Saint], i did add a sleep timer to the wps and I use just "zZz %bs", the idea was to have a little symbol instead of zZz
01:29:28Misanthroposi agree the usage of an icon itself is mildly useful
01:29:58[Saint]I can certainly add it, but I'm rather busy today.
01:30:23[Saint]And as I said it would only be for themes using the built-in status-bar.
01:30:34Misanthroposright - i see
01:30:51Misanthroposwhere would you place that icon? in icons? or is it a font?
01:31:17Misanthroposor is it rather defined by the theme?
01:31:48[Saint]It would live in the bitmapstrip for icons in the built-in status-bar source.
01:31:57[Saint]Which is essentially a theme

03:56:32shamusomg the new build of rockbox is sweet i cant belive that I will never have to see the darn "databae refresh" again on my clip + you go guys
03:56:38[Saint]My assumption is "has a Rockbox staff" hostmask?

03:57:39saratogafunman: the datasheet we have from AMS is for both the A and B version, the difference is just the pinout and memory controller IIRC
03:59:04[Saint]shamus: indeed. it has been possible to enable USB on these devices for quite some time, but it was only recently applied to all AMSv2 devices.
03:59:26[Saint]Its still not guaranteed to work in all cases, though.
04:00
04:00:33shamusright and rember to update the bootloader when updating rockbox
04:00:52saratogai assume the log script has a list of rockbox committers and is using that

04:01:43funman[Saint]: probably a whitelist
04:02:46*[Saint] wants a fancy icon.
04:02:55shamusone thing i have wondered for a while but never asked has anyone tried porting rockbox to the neuros dac (digital audio computer)?

04:04:40[Saint]there's a lot of Rockbox that isn't device specific, but someone still needs access to the target in question, and the incentive to do so.
04:05:09[Saint]Even for an experienced developer, a new port is many hundreds of hours work.
04:05:12funman[Saint]: probably ask zagor
04:05:22funmanwork, and frustration
04:05:28shamusright but if i recall the dac is mostly dsp based
04:06:03[Saint]shamus: at this point, he ideal person to do he work is you yourself.
04:06:18[Saint]This likely won't change. ;)
04:06:51[Saint]*do the work
04:07:47shamusyea im cluses about the internals of the thingy but i rember the big woop back in the day about it beign a fully opensource device but seams neuros is buarign it in the drawas of long fogoten devices
04:08:14funmanshamus: well neuros runs linux do not they?
04:08:31shamusthink thats what they clamed at tien time
04:08:33funmanoh there was a portable player sorry, i m confused with the TV box
04:08:38shamusknow the osd dose
04:08:54[Saint]If the firmware is indeed open source, then you've got a great advantage.
04:09:03funmanOSD is an arm board with linux indeed
04:11:05shamusthe dac III never saw the light of day
04:11:39[Saint]The "NewPorts" wiki page is probably a good read for you.
04:12:09[Saint]It outlines the bare minimum steps required to get a new port off he ground.
04:12:31[Saint]*off the ground
04:14:55shamusbummer it is completely DSP-based

04:24:42shamustrue but given the lack for a cpu on the system it would probably be surprisingly difficult to build for it.
04:26:00saratogai think ti did eventually provide a compiler for their dsp system
04:26:44saratogai don't know how suitable the hardware is though, you'll want a 32 bit system for rockbox

13:56:36kugelI would like to bump the required android sdk to 4.0.3
13:57:29gevaertskugel: that's just the build requirements, right?
13:57:35kugelyes
13:58:19ZagorI have no objections
13:59:13gevaertsThat means adding an a new toolchain to the build system I guess
14:00
14:01:32Zagortechnically, yes. but there are only three clients that build android so pragmatically we don't have to do a formal upgrade
14:01:47Zagor(me, kugel & amiconn)
14:02:23gevaertsI think we should. The current one is called android30, using that to mean android403 is confusing
14:02:47kugelit should have the api level, not android version, too
14:03:13Zagorgevaerts: fair enough
14:03:52gevaertshttp://gerrit.rockbox.org/215 for the client I think
14:04:23gevaertskugel: for the current one we use "android30" as the name, which checks for API level 11
14:04:32kugeli know
14:04:54kugelthere is also some warning which would be nice to be fixed
14:05:09gevaertsWe could use android15 now too I guess, instead of android403 (which I used in my attempt)
14:05:27gevaertsI don't mind either way
14:05:44kugelwell, then we should remove the android30 check too, or we run into problems in the far future :)
14:07:05gevaertsProbably, yes

14:35:44Zagoragreed, sdk version is better than android version

14:38:49TorneWell, then we need *all three*& things, ideally :)
14:39:05TorneThere are important bugfixes to the native toolchain in NDK releases which are independant of SDK or API level
14:39:16Tornei'm not saying rockbox depends on them now, but it might, conceivably

14:40:46Tornei assume you're referring to 7b :p
14:41:32Zagorandroid 4.0.3 isn't an sdk version at all, so I don't see how that is better than android15
14:41:34Torneanyway, yeah, the sdk release is less important, but i would suggest we require NDK release 7c if reasonable, because toolchains are just, ugh
14:41:57TorneZagor: er, yeah. the sdk release is r18
14:42:00Tornesorry :)
14:42:16Torner18 is the one that adds support for 4.0.3, which is why these things get conflated a lot :p
14:42:45ZagorTorne: not r16? http://developer.android.com/images/sdk_manager_packages.png
14:42:59Zagoroh, "not installed"
14:43:21Tornedefinitely r18. the sdk "release" refers to, basuically, the package manager and friends :p
14:43:25ZagorETOOMANYVERSIONS
14:43:27Torneeverything else is versioned as well
14:43:36TorneSo yeah, my install here probably has >10 version numbers involved
14:43:41Tornebecaue i have loads of different packages
14:43:52ZagorI withdraw my opinion. just do the right thing :-)
14:44:08Tornefor our purposes i would suggest we want to care about the NDK version. the SDK version probably doesn't matter a great deal, just which API level we have the libs for
14:44:21Tornebut, i guess we haven't been caring about the ndk version up till now..
14:44:25Torneso, hey
14:44:34Tornei'm not actually working on the android port, someone who is can decide :p
14:48:51kugelit would be nice if the ndk version could be checked as well
14:49:46Torneregardless of which api we target we are likely to want the latest ndk, because newer toolchain is less busted toolchain (also maybe, yaknow, better)
14:50:54kugelrbclient.pl can only check one tool right now
14:52:00Zagorthat's easily fixed
14:52:08Tornecouldn't the toolname be of the form android15-ndk7c though?
14:52:36Torne(i have never looked at the build system scripts) :)
14:52:37Zagorthe name doesn't have to contain the version numbers. it can be android_b

14:52:58Torneah
15:00
15:05:23gevaertsThe main "problem" is that versions are currently checked by running one command and checking for a given output string, so it is a bit of work

21:46:49bertriklike in /home/bertrik/rockbox.git/rockbox/apps/gui/wps.c:115:13: warning: excess elements in array initializer [enabled by default]
21:47:12gevaertsI'd say they definitely aren't *good*
21:47:52bertrikI get that when compiling the mr100 sim in debug and logf mode
21:48:23n1sah, no that sounds bad, i'm not really sure what will happen though
21:48:52n1si though you might mean like initing a var and always overwriting that value
21:49:03bertrikand a segfault when trying to run the ./rockboxui
21:50:22Misanthropos! [remote rejected] HEAD -> refs/for/master (you are not allowed to upload merges) ???
21:51:34n1sbertrik: iirc logf on remote lcd targets output the messages to the remote so there's probably some clash with that
