09:33:23 | [Saint] | kugel: tests with hebrew in particular are absolutely terrible. If you didn't know the menu layout and applied this language, you would have to edit your .cfg by hand or so to get out of it. |
09:34:10 | kugel | i would have to do this anyway as I don't understand the language |
09:34:24 | [Saint] | SO, yeah...I need a font with wide character support, which also looks nice, that I can build new fonts out of. |
09:35:34 | [Saint] | Hum...perhaps I could use Robotto |

09:37:50 | kugel | so you're saying the font looks so terrible that not even a hebrew speaking person could decipher it? |
09:38:16 | [Saint] | Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. |
09:39:24 | kugel | I don't think I could estimate this, I know nothing about this language |
09:39:36 | kugel | apache 2.0 is fine indeed |
09:40:01 | [Saint] | Rockbox is GPL 2 /or higher/, yes? So Apache 2.0 "just works"? |
09:40:22 | kugel | yes |
09:43:52 | [Saint] | Ahhhhhh...dammit :-S |
09:44:19 | [Saint] | looks like the fonts are split up by languagae (I forgot this), so, I can't use Robotto |
09:45:19 | [Saint] | It would be nice if there was a better way to apply a font conditionally (other than duplicating text viewports). |
09:50:28 | [Saint] | the requirement "and be free" also makes this very difficult. |
09:50:34 | [Saint] | FOnts are damn expensive. |
09:53:12 | kugel | can you post a screenshot of hebrew in rtl? |
09:53:34 | kugel | robotto is also bad for rtl? |
09:57:54 | [Saint] | Not at the moment, and I haven't tried but probably, yes, else my assumption would be that there wouldn't be a need to include a Hebrew font specifically if it did. |
09:59:05 | [Saint] | I think the "best" solution is for me to use GNU Unifont, which I have recently discovered has a .ttf version. |
10:00 |
10:07:56 | [Saint] | when funman suggested earlier to use GNU Unifont, it completely didn't occur to me that he wasn't talking about the one we already have in the font pack. |
10:10:03 | [Saint] | I'll get to work on that at some stage soon, even if I don't end up using it in my theme creating a set of GNU Unifont fonts both antialiased and not, in sizes ranging from 10~60px in 2px increments for the fontpack. |
10:10:25 | [Saint] | +would be a good thing. |

14:54:16 | rarog | ok, I'm trying to rebuild the cross compiler under cygwin and see if now with changed dependencies it will work. I re-installed several new cygwin packages which disappeared in the meantime. |
14:56:11 | RFroehning | JdGordon, regarding the sleeptimer you suggested using INT_SETTING_W_CFGVALS with a proper formatter... if I got it right it should have 3 values then 0,1,2 for off, continue, start? |
14:57:20 | RFroehning | but it think it should be sufficient if it has off and (continue or start), depending on the current status |
14:57:48 | RFroehning | soap, when switched off, it would start the timer from its preset value |
15:00 |
15:00:48 | RFroehning | one thing more: i don?t get a grip of the flag setting.... F_TEMPVAR - what should it imply? not being saved? |
15:01:03 | RFroehning | can someone help me out here? |
15:02:05 | RFroehning | I am referring to: http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/220/ |
15:16:12 | JdGordon | RFroehning: with TEMPVAR it might be ok to not have a seperate continue/start setting, not 100% sure |

15:17:15 | JdGordon | otherwise i'd have a play |
15:22:59 | JdGordon | and yes, TEMPVAR means that the setting wont actually change (and also the callback called) untill the user actually leaves the option screen accepting the new value |
15:23:31 | JdGordon | so if oyu only have "stop" and "continue/start" you have no way of restarting the timer |

17:46:15 | [Saint_] | there's no real need to, though. |

22:40:08 | Guest___ | Sorry for vanishing, I feel my PC needs fixing to. Anyway the problem is I cant get it to start. It crashed booting rockbox, something about the audiobuf and 65536>0 ?? So I figured ild use normal firmware instead. which worked. however next time i booted, it showed the bootloader then kernel panic and wont turn on. ive tried holding off, an there is no usb ether? |
22:40:56 | bluebrother | hold the power button for 30 or so seconds. That will shut it off. |
22:42:37 | Guest___ | ive tried holding it several times for up to 2 minutes. i dont think its on as i dont get the slight hum in my headphones. |
22:42:58 | bluebrother | does it turn on if you plug it in to USB? |
22:43:41 | Guest___ | Nope, i get nothing at all. |
22:44:04 | bluebrother | ok, then I can't help you. I'm not too familiar with that player. |
22:44:24 | saratoga | i'd try a couple more times to reboot it |
22:44:33 | saratoga | if that doesn't work you might just have to wait for the battery to die |
22:46:02 | Guest___ | I had heard of the turning off way, but I was hoping they may be a quicker way. and i wanted to know what had gone wrong. If theres 20% how long will it take as ive no way of knowing if it is on? |
