#rockbox log for 2012-06-13

00:00:44gevaertsAfter it's done with the disk, it broadcasts SYS_USB_DISCONNECTED
00:02:29 Join Qtax [0] (~temp@h-13-177.a163.priv.bahnhof.se)
00:04:01Qtaxany idea what it could be? @ http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,34606.0.html
00:04:56gevaertsQtax: have you checked the filesystem?
00:05:36Qtaxno, how could i check it? usual FAT tools?
00:05:44gevaertsyes
00:05:58Qtaxk, will have a look
00:08:05 Quit petur (Quit: Leaving)
00:09:58bertrikQtax, it's not a common problem AFAIK
00:10:20 Quit ender (Quit: The evolution of languages: FORTRAN is a non-typed language. C is a weakly typed language. Ada is a strongly typed language. C++ is a strongly hyped language. -- Ron Sercely)
00:10:32bertrikcan you see what's on the screen if you try to power it up again?
00:11:18Qtaxi cant power it up, there is nothing at all, no sign of life whatsoever
00:11:24Qtax(when this happens)
00:11:46Qtaxafter 30+ sec reset it boots as if nothing has happened
00:11:59bertrikDid you set the sleep timer?
00:12:37Qtaxchkdsk reported that it found some error and fixed it, could be related :p
00:12:49bertrikI mean the wake-up alarm, sorry
00:12:58Qtaxno
00:14:00bertrikok, I hope the chkdsk fixes it
00:14:42gevaertsWe are a bit sensitive to filesystem errors
00:15:02gevaertsSomeone should go over our FAT code
00:15:26Qtaxshould i do a clean install after this or?
00:15:42bertrikwouldn't hurt, but probably not necessary
00:16:08Qtaxseems that the restored fragment had some last.fm loggs or something
00:16:20Qtaxbut could be anything
00:16:21Qtax-g
00:16:44bertrikhm, did you have scrobbling enabled?
00:16:52Qtaxyes
00:17:18Qtaxone of my favorite features (;
00:18:06bertrikif the problem still happens, could you try disabling it and see if that helps?

00:20:19 Quit lebellium (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.88.2 [Firefox 14.0/20120605113340])
00:23:52Qtaxcoundt get it to crash yet (after some quick restarts), but it's very random so can't be sure
00:25:30Qtaxi can see that my .scrobbler.log was corrupted (before scan anyway)
00:26:50bertrikI think that just before shutdown is one of the instants that we try to write to the log (if there's any scrobble data cached)
00:27:06*gevaerts nods
00:27:09 Quit Zagor (Quit: Clint excited)
00:28:20gevaertsIt's probably using the idle callback system, which means it gets written every time the playback system needs to access the filesystem, or on shutdown
00:30:37Qtaxi was looking too quickly at the scrobble.log, it was just long UTF8 encoded track names that got me confused. my bad, sorry

00:48:51bluebrotherit's a DCE picture btw :)
00:51:47bluebrotheranother option would be to use a tower picture though

23:01:24AlexPyeah :)
23:01:30bluebrothersince clean doesn't clean the dependencies unfortunately
23:05:04RFroehningoh i see
23:07:51RFroehningok. rbutil works... but it cant retrieve strings from installation... that is because there is no english.info file... can someone point me to a tool which generates this ?
23:08:58bluebrotherRFroehning: if you have a recent Rockbox installation you have the required files −− and if you build Rockbox from a recent checkout it will add that as well
23:09:02gevaertsAlexP: g#275
23:09:03fs-bluebotGerrit review #275 at http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/275 : Make touchscreen handling work with skinned lists. by Frank Gevaerts (changes/75/275/1)
23:09:25bluebrother(genlang is the tool that generates the .vstring files, the build system packages them up)
23:09:32AlexPgevaerts: Awesome, I'll have a test
23:09:37AlexPgevaerts: Thanks very much
23:09:47RFroehningok... i have to rebase my modifications then to the head?
23:09:47gevaertsHm, I left some printf statements in there...
23:10:25gevaertsThe second one should be better
23:10:51gevaertsWell, both will work for the sdl app, but I have no idea what printf() does on android
23:11:00bluebrotherwell, you could of course also simply cherry-pick the relevant changes :)

23:32:58funmandid you update your java?
23:32:59AlexPI haven't tried to buidl it for a long long time, so this probably isn't anything to do with your change
23:33:29AlexPfunman: System is up-to-date, but I don't know what version I have installed - I'll check
23:33:37bluebrotherAlexP: looks like the issue I had a bit ago as well
23:33:45*bertrik goes back to investigating the playlist vs. USB problem
23:33:48bluebrotherneeded to use java 1.6 instead of the default 1.7
23:33:59AlexPah yes, I have 1.7
23:34:20AlexPIs there anyway to tell it to use 1.6 other that replacing 1.7 with 1.6?
23:34:32AlexPIf I can even have both which I doubt
23:34:55bertrikmaybe set JAVA_HOME and add JAVA_HOME/bin to your path?
23:35:35gevaertsYes, that should work.
23:35:44gevaertsMake sure you prepend it to your path though
23:35:56AlexPI don't seem to be able to have both
23:36:08AlexPNot with the default packages anyway
23:36:41gevaertsHm, wait
23:37:09gevaertsAlexP: change android.make
23:37:48gevaertsAlexP: http://paste.debian.net/174383/ might work
23:38:11AlexPgevaerts: Thanks, I'll try
23:39:39AlexPgevaerts: sadly not

23:39:57AlexPOK :)
23:40:57AlexPwoohoo!
23:41:14AlexPalthough there was a warning
23:41:15AlexPwarning: [options] bootstrap class path not set in conjunction with -source 1.6
23:41:34gevaertsProbably not important
23:41:44AlexPI got an apk anyway, I'll try it :)
23:43:55AlexPhmm, it won't install
23:44:14gevaertsDoes it say why?
23:44:23RFroehninguhm... the rockboxui for sansaclip+ cant playback audio anymore? codec api version error
23:44:35AlexPNope, click on it then get a splash saying "Application not installed"
23:44:48gevaertsAlexP: adb logcat might help
23:44:51AlexPI removed the previous one (which was a rasher build)
23:44:51bertrikRFroehning, unlikely, I tried it yesterday and it worked
23:45:01bertriktry another make install perhaps
23:45:03RFroehningi will try a clean build then
23:45:06AlexPgevaerts: Yeah, but then I'd have to go and find a cable :)
23:45:12RFroehningjust did...

23:52:14AlexPSo :/
23:52:15gevaertsBoo!
23:52:20AlexPyep
23:52:29gevaertsI could make a build for you

23:53:16gevaertsArm? :)
23:53:53bertrikRFroehning, sorry, I was wrong, I tested the clip zip sim yesterday. I just built the clip+ sim and it plays mp3, although I don't get the cabbie v2 theme
23:54:24AlexPgevaerts: yes please :)
23:57:28AlexPgevaerts: looks like it will be fixed soon: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=52344
23:57:28bertrikRFroehning, do you also have the same problem with the theme?
23:57:28AlexPOn next sdk release
23:57:28gevaertsRight. Looks like there might be commandline options to fix it now
23:57:48RFroehningbertrik, after a new simdisk and rebuild from scratch mp3s work, and cabbie_v2 seems to work
23:58:39bertrikit looks like I'm getting one of those fallback themes
