11:30:41	Torne	gevaerts: yeah, you need PIC for shared libraries because the load address is unpredictable, and executables are normally linked for fixed addresses, but these days we like position independant executables as well so that we can load them at random addresses to defeat return-to-image buffer overrun attacks
