00:07:04PwnsomeWini think so
00:07:13PwnsomeWinCreative MuVo v100
00:09:36PwnsomeWinthe one that's compiler needed to be remade
00:10:59bertrikI get the feeling that you're hugely underestimating the effort needed
00:11:17PwnsomeWini know it'll be really hard
00:11:27PwnsomeWini want to try, see how far i get
00:12:08saratogayeah someone posted pics, its a sigmatel DSP
00:12:20saratogadon't bother, you won't be able to port rockbox to it
00:12:34PwnsomeWinwhy?
00:12:49saratogano compiler, no 32 bit CPU
00:13:24saratogaincidentally, if you're asking this, you probably are a couple years worth of experience short of where you need to be to port rockbox to much of anything
00:13:31PwnsomeWindo you mean its impossible, or its really hard
00:14:56saratogaso maybe you should pick something simple to work on and then once you're more familiar with embedded programming look into porting

00:15:27saratogausually its easier to crawl before you master spaceflight
00:15:35PwnsomeWinonly other mp3 player i got thats not stable is sansa express
00:15:46sc_any stable for the 160gb classic?
00:16:32PwnsomeWini read somewhere that rockbox cant be ported to the express
00:16:39PwnsomeWinso yeah
00:16:47saratogayeah theres a port, but it requires some hardware modification
00:16:55PwnsomeWinunless theres something i can do to a stable release
00:16:59saratogaif i were you i would buy a stable port and work on something for it
00:17:22PwnsomeWini have 3 stable ports
00:17:29saratogawell then there you go
00:17:31saratogawork on one of them
00:17:53PwnsomeWinwhat is there to work on?
00:17:53PwnsomeWine
00:17:59saratogawhatever you want
00:18:06saratogasc_: we have the port status on the front page
00:18:19PwnsomeWinwhat would be something simple to work on?
00:18:52saratogadepends, what embedded stuff have you done before?
00:19:38PwnsomeWinnothing, but ive done quite a bit of regular programming
00:20:15saratogahmm ok, then i would pick something familiar and work on that, generally writing stuff on an mp3 player is more frustrating then a PC

00:33:56PwnsomeWinyeah, but the plugin pacbox doesnt
00:34:03sc_whoa, what is the easiest way in linux to overwrite /mnt/ipod/.rockbox (old) with ~/.rockbox (new)
00:34:10sc_rsync?
00:34:22sc_rm then cp?
00:34:34saratogai would just unzip directly to the player
00:34:52sc_hrmmmm
00:35:26saratogaPwnsomeWin: there is just one rockbox, its an operating system that runs on a lot of devices, if you want the source for it, you can download it from our website using git
00:35:41PwnsomeWini have the source
00:35:48saratogathen you have pacbox :)
00:36:16PwnsomeWinokay, then what CAN i add to the port?

00:36:23sc_guess that worked :)
00:37:09saratogaPwnsomeWin: i'm sorry i don't understand that question

00:38:28saratoga?
00:38:45PwnsomeWinwhat can i do with the sansa clip port of rockbox?

11:30:41Tornegevaerts: yeah, you need PIC for shared libraries because the load address is unpredictable, and executables are normally linked for fixed addresses, but these days we like position independant executables as well so that we can load them at random addresses to defeat return-to-image buffer overrun attacks
11:31:12Tornegevaerts: the process to make an executable position independant is slightly different, though, because of $MAGIC, so you need a special switch not just -fPIC

12:05:01Tornewe can't mmap() or fork() so there's no need to consider text relocations bad; the loader can just apply them

19:47:35PwnsomeWinyeah, why not have seperate ones for each clip?
19:47:54PwnsomeWinbecause the original clip doesnt have a power button, its a slide thing

20:56:21rocktriangleHello again, I was wondering is it possible to add songs into a seperate playlist from the database
20:56:59gevaertsJohnML: no, it's definitely not. I'd really like to know if someone else sees the same thing on the clip_+
20:57:39gevaertsI'm sure *someone* here has one
20:57:45rocktriangleI do
20:58:02rocktriangleIt's the only DAP I have that supports rockbox.

20:58:57rocktriangleI put 8-9 albums onto my clip +, since they're all new to me I found many songs that I like within the albums but I Want them seperated for future listening
20:59:22JohnMLPwnsomeWin: see here http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12709
20:59:47rocktriangleI don't want to make a playlist on the computer since I'd rather spend my time listening to them and seperate them on the go.
21:00
21:00:08rocktriangleI hear it then and there and add it or do something with it, otherwise I'll forget.
21:00:52evilnickThat sounds like something that you could use Playlist Catalogue for that, but I'm not sure if using the Database (rather than Files) will complicate things at all or not
21:01:37gevaertsJohnML: one thing you could try (you never know!) is checking the filesystem
21:02:14JohnMLgevaerts: ok, using gparted

21:55:16Zagorthat's why the build is hanging. kugel is currenty the only build client offering arch android15. and a bug in the master doesn't disqualify it when kugels client bugs out
21:56:10gevaertsZagor: whenever I restarted my client, it was always asked to redo the ypr0 build. Not sure if that points to something
21:56:12Zagoramiconn: your client "saturn" offers android30. iirc we changed the naming from "android version" to "api version", which it seems noone told you :-)
21:56:31Zagorgevaerts: yeah I saw that in the log. looks like another bug.
21:57:38gevaertsOh, could you bump the required client version one of these days so everything's ready for the next step in the "autobuild the manuals" project?
21:57:51gevaertsI'm not sure if the check I did there is the best possible one though
21:58:31Zagorthe version number looks mighty exact :-)
21:58:47gevaertsIt is!
21:59:24gevaertsIIRC the version number gets more precise with every release rather than the more usual way of making it bigger
21:59:37Zagorhaha, that's pretty funny
21:59:55Zagoryet quite user unfriendly
22:00
22:01:08Zagorbottom line: we need android support in more clients
