12:23:34bertrikfreqmod, feel like doing a bit more opus hacking today/
12:33:27bertrikfreqmod, it seems we can't use the vorbis replaygain tags after all, http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-terriberry-oggopus-01#section-5.2 says
12:33:36bertrik"To avoid confusion with multiple normalization schemes, an Opus comment header SHOULD NOT contain any of the REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN, REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK, REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN, or REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK tags."
12:43:36bertrikso, instead of all magically just working, we may have to add special cases to distinguish vorbis comments from opus comments

13:15:04funmanbertrik: so perhaps only the 16bits 'gain' tag is used for opus ?
13:15:37funmanah no I see a R128_TRACK_GAIN
13:16:31funmanThere is no Opus comment tag corresponding to REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN. That information should instead be stored in the ID header's 'output gain' field.
13:17:07funmanso the 'album gain' is already applied by the decoder IIUC

13:48:46lebelliumbertrik: battery fully charged (hw controlled) with old RB build: 4,145V 93% , with your patch: 4,650V, 100%
13:49:34bertrikhm, that's too high, so possibly there's a scaling factor off somewhere, or we're reading the wrong adc channel
13:50:21bertriknot sure where it gets the 4.145V reading in the old RB build, since the code clearly shows that it's always returning 4.1V exactly
13:50:44lebelliumI read that in debug menu>view battery
13:50:46bertrikis this with the charger still attached? does it drop when you disconnect the charger?
13:52:00lebelliumthe charger is no longer attached and that drops
13:52:35bertrikI think we do have some kind of smoothing filter on the battery voltage that the user sees
13:53:10lebelliumah
13:53:17bertrikA freshly charged lithium battery should show a voltage in the range 4.15-4.20V
13:53:21lebelliumI see a battery capacity setting
13:53:35lebelliumdefault setting is 1550 mAh
13:54:26bertrikI think the capacity setting only affects the remaining runtime calculation
13:54:46lebelliumit can't calculate remaining runtime either :D
13:55:02lebelliumit says 0h -1m remaining
13:55:47lebelliumbut maybe it's due to my battery. It's a July 2005 player. The battery is 7 year old now, pretty dead I think
14:00
14:00:04bertriklebellium, 4.650V is the max value that the ADC can read, so the ADC reading is probably saturated at a value of 1023. I think we're measuring the wrong ADC channel then.
14:00:16bertrik(assuming that it is at all possible to read the battery voltage)
14:00:24lebelliumok
14:00:44lebelliumactually it doesn't drop
14:01:14lebelliumit displays 4.650-4.694V (5mW) since a few minutes
14:01:43lebelliumso you're probably right
14:11:40bertrikhm, there could be a bug in the adc-pp5020 driver when used with the samsungs
14:12:52bertrikNUM_ADC_CHANNELS is defined as 2 for the samsung YH players, so only enough memory for 2 channels is reserved, but the driver tries to use up to 4 channels

14:20:50bertrikno, I don't think so, the file is at the same link as the previous one
14:21:26bertrik(now trying ADC channel 0 instead of 1)

17:48:56bertrikwhich one do you like?
17:52:00saratogasome 10 point font would be good I think
17:55:55bertriksome 10 pt fonts feel a lot smaller than 8 pt rockbox, mostly because of horizontal glyph size
17:57:53saratoga i had one i liked but i can't rememher what it was :)
17:58:00bertrikis there a kind of cabbie v2 "default" font across targets?
17:58:21bertrikI like 10-Nimbus, but it's a bit fat
18:00
18:00:13bertrikIn the main menu, two items are cut off: Playlist catalog(ue) and Resume Playbac(k) but not that big of a deal IMO
18:01:03bertrikoh, 10 pt font will need realignment in the WPS

18:59:57bertrikand will this also affect the status bar?
19:00
19:00:04amayerive never used it personally. but I read it in the manual.
19:01:17saratogamost other devices use Adobe-Helvetica, so 10Adobe-Helvetica makes sense
19:01:26amayerI havent done any development for rockbox yet... so i think it would be a while before I could patch anything.
19:01:27amayerThe girlfriend has been taking up alot of time recently so I havent has as much coding time(websites and open source projects) as i would like
19:02:22saratogamost of the cabbie themes don't specify a font in the WPS
19:02:27saratogabut do it in the theme file
19:02:46bertrik10-Adobe-Helvetica makes all english main menu items fit horizontally, but the 'y' is really ugly
19:02:47saratogathis won't work for us, since the theme file isn't loaded on boot up, so we'll need to put it in the WPS i think
19:04:02saratogayou're right it looks odd in the sim

21:20:56freqmodand personally I am happy as long as it seeks roughly in the right spot
21:21:03freqmodas i am using it for audiobooks/plays
21:21:16freqmodi have used it to and from work for a week
21:21:36freqmodand it works really well, except for the bookmark/remembering stuff which works half of the time
21:22:19freqmodi had a segfault one time (when i was seeking, and changing tracks or something like that), but otherwise it is stable
21:22:38bertrikon what target?

21:27:51gmaxwellbertrik: oh come on, it should be all of one line of code to get it just right. :) Just offset the target by the preskip. Thats it.

21:35:34bertrikbut preskip << granule resolution, so why even bother?
21:36:36bertrikAnd is the preskip from the OpusHead appropriate as a seeking preskip too?
21:41:40gmaxwellbertrik: No for seeking the spec directs you to use 80ms. They're different because the initial one is also used for trimming cut files (and when not trimming into a new stream not so much is required)
21:42:13gmaxwellbertrik: because preskip can be as much as 1.3 seconds, which is > than your seeking resolution.

22:21:50benedikt93TheDarkPirate, you were already talking to the right person :) AFAIK, there were some driver issues plus the different memory layout emCore uses

22:22:23TheDarkPirateexcuse me, english is not my native language, what does it mean "AFAIK"?
22:22:28TheSevenit's just some bug that makes the apple firmware lock up during boot when booted through emcore

23:28:31eliasp_hmm, ok… are there any best practices on how to copy files from sane filesystems to VFAT? e.g. replacing : in filenames etc… I couldn't find something really usable… I hoped to be able to do this using rsync, but the rsync patch to do this was dismissed because it was just some kind of dirty hack

23:31:07gevaertsI'd use a rename tool that knows about this
23:31:16eliasp_files containing a : in their path make up ~8% of my collection… so it's not just some files which I could rename manually
23:31:30eliasp_gevaerts: hmm, actually not such a bad idea… maybe krename is able to do this

23:32:42*eliasp_ dreams of a FUSE FS which provides a read-only view on a filesystem with VFAT compatible names… so one could simply work with the files using regular tools

23:34:01eliasp_the day when VFAT finally died a slow an painful death in every single consumer device out there will be a day to have a party :)
23:34:22eliasp_but I fear this might take another 25 years or so, as VFAT has risen as zombie named exFAT :-(

23:38:54eliasp_ah, it works using krename… there's [$dirname.] :)
23:42:11eliasp_fantastic… so what I'm doing now:
23:42:11eliasp_- mount my music collection using FUSE mp3fs to convert all FLAC files on the fly to 320kbit/s MP3s to save some storage space… (I know, Rockbox supports FLAC, but my player has only 16GiB internal storage)
23:42:11eliasp_- use krename to copy files to the player using "[$dirname.]/[$dirname]/" as filename prefix and a ": → _" find & replace definition
