04:53:35[Saint]DarthFrog: too many variables there, I'm afraid.
04:53:50[Saint]It depends on which iPod, and which accessories.
04:55:10[Saint]If you're talking about the Classic, then the broad answer is "No".
04:56:02[Saint]Unless the accessory in question will work with generic removable storage, in which case it likely wouldn't be iPod-specific.
04:56:54DarthFrog[Saint]: Thanks. That's what I was thinking might be the case.
04:57:18[Saint]Even on the iPods that *have* IAP enabled, the answer for most accessories is "Maybe, but, don't rely on it".
04:57:58[Saint]There's a small amount of accessories known to work with a few iPods listed on the wiki somewhere.
04:59:26DarthFrog[Saint]: And, yes, I was referring to an Ipod Classic.
05:00
05:00:43DarthFrogI was describing Rockbox to a friend who has an Ipod Classic and that's the question she asked me. Being quite new to Rockbox myself, I couldn't answer her.
05:01:28[Saint]I believe there's some work on gerrit that partially implements IAP for the iPod Classic port, but the current code base doesn't have this applied and it would need a reasonable amount of work if it were to be.
05:02:11DarthFrogSo it might work someday but don't count on it? Sounds reasonable.
05:02:44[Saint]That's pretty much the gist of the entire project ;)
05:03:18DarthFrog:-)
05:03:29DarthFrogThanks for your help.
05:05:36[Saint]Any dock/stereo/car-stereo/etc. that has USB and can rwad from removable storage will be able to read from a Rockboxed device, be it iPod or no, but some "smart" devices will see the UID is an iPod, and try to talk to it using IAP (iPod Accessory Protocol) - we can patch out the UID as a workaround for this, though, so the device(s) don't "see" it as an iPod anymore and in theory it should just work.
05:06:34[Saint]Basically the problems are that IAP is a closed protocol, and not many devs own a wide range of/any accessories.
05:07:02[Saint]And, the ever present problems of time and man-power.
05:09:47[Saint]There was some talk at some point to allow the setting of the UID for the iPods (or, possibly all devices, but I can't think of a use case outside the iPods) via a menu setting, or a "magic config file" or so...but I'm not sure what happened with that discussion.

05:15:38DarthFroggerrit?
05:17:30[Saint]Its a patch tracking/review tool the project uses.
05:17:48DarthFrogGotcha.
05:20:43[Saint]It seems the major issue with the patches is just that they're in a mess. And it isn't immediately clear what is necessary and what is debug/AIP stuff (to me at least).
05:20:55[Saint]The author seems to have gone awol too.
05:21:12[Saint]I'm sure someone could pick it up at some point.

18:32:56megakacktusI've looked through the forums and mailing lists but I couldn't find any solution
18:33:12gelraenlook for errors from compiler
18:33:14gevaertsAll that says is that there was an error earlier on
18:33:25gevaertsI'm guessing something related to texinfo?
18:33:58gevaertsIf so, have a look at http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/471/
18:34:05*gevaerts looks for n1s
18:34:18megakacktuswell as I look through the output there is a line that says:

18:34:28gevaertsThat's the one

18:35:09gevaertsWell, if you can, the simple fix is to downgrade your texinfo package, but that's not always easy to do

19:26:36*gevaerts recommends double-checking. That "Desktop" looks interesting
19:27:03megakacktusbluebrother, not that I'm aware of
19:27:22bluebrother"Desktop"?
19:27:32bluebrotheroh, right. Didn't notice that :)
19:27:35CeninantThat's how WinAMP made it.
19:28:11CeninantI quickly added ID3 tags. WinAMP read the folder the files were saved in as "Album", so you get desktop as an album.
19:28:43bluebrothermegakacktus: I recommend a "make clean" then. Apart from the player things build fine
19:28:55Ceninantand BEACH because the original file name was beach-fitness.com - Tabata - 8 rounds, 20 on, 10 off (Fight Bell).mp3
19:29:28megakacktusbluebrother, I'll try that

19:30:06CeninantThat's how Rockbox created a dynamic playlist.
19:30:27bluebrotherCeninant: ok, and how does such a playlist look like if you add the two files you mentioned above? ;-)
19:32:41CeninantSo WinAMP is adding \music\ and rockbox software isn't..
19:33:27bluebrotherI did assume that the former were in a subfolder MUSIC while the latter aren't ...
19:33:57bluebrotherthough Rockbox tries to to strip leading parts of the path if the file is not found
19:34:50CeninantThe folder is E:\MUSIC\Susan Johnston\TMS_ Myths and Mysteries in Archaeology\02 - Science and How It Works.mp3
19:34:59Ceninanter file proper
19:35:54bluebrotherhuh? Then the path saved by Rockbox should start with /MUSIC

19:37:33bluebrotherhave you saved the dynamic playlist in /MUSIC?
19:37:36CeninantI resaved the playlist in RB after queuing from the database and it added /music/ that time.
19:38:38bluebrotherjust to be sure, the files in question do play fine in Rockbox, right?
19:38:51CeninantNow both playlist are fine.
19:39:38CeninantThe new rockbox playlist is

19:40:00Ceninant/MUSIC/Susan Johnston/TMS_ Myths and Mysteries in Archaeology/02 - Science and How It Works.mp3
19:41:28CeninantI couldn't get USB to work in Rockbox last night, so I booted into OFW to add those playlists..because USB Drive access is USB Drive access. But now the playlist I made last night is working.
