#rockbox log for 2013-07-12

00:00:11pamaurythe software is really really bad, and the touchpad software is really the problem imo, we managed to make it much more usable with rockbox, although it could be better

00:19:10pamauryno problem, it's actually a well known problem: some theme trigger usb problems, we have a hard time tracing this issue

14:31:38pixelmaIIRC you had the Samsung one which is worse for one, quite rare in the OndioFM and finally only used in other Archos FM Recorders - unlike the Phillips chip which is quite common
14:32:03pixelmaalso used in other Rockbox targets like the Irivers
14:32:44lebelliumthat's probably the case indeed

22:45:10kugelsaratoga: i didn't see that announcement
22:46:24kugelanyway, i think the criticism is valid, the old design seemed to be fitted for blind users
22:47:16gevaertsIf we're going to want patches to be committed, we'll have to accept that every now and then something gets committed before all pros and cons have been heard, whatever the reason
22:47:24gevaertsThe important thing is how to go forward
22:48:18pamaurycan anyone explain the background here ?

22:51:02gevaertspamaury: it's about g#503. The opposition as I understand it is that the previous behaviour was better for blind users, and not a coincidence or a bug as the commit message may seem to imply
22:51:04fs-bluebotGerrit review #503 at http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/503 : Swap over a position of cursor while reaching the end of filename in keyboard by Roman (changes/03/503/1)
22:51:45*gevaerts has never actually used the keyboard, so he doesn't really know what the behaviour was or is, so he doesn't have an opinion on the technical side
22:52:29*bertrik actively tries to avoid using the keyboard on rockbox

23:04:20saratogaare people not watching the tracker?
23:04:35saratogaI took silence to mean there where no complaints
23:05:46pamaurysaratoga: I don't have an active look at the tracker until someone pokes me to have a look or request review
23:08:51saratogaFWIW, you can set gerrit to email you for all comments
23:08:59saratogawith the relatively low volume we get this works nicely
23:09:25saratogaand of course if you're using gmail, anything from Gerrit is automatically placed in a seperate tab from main emails so its not very intrusive
23:10:02pamauryhow do you do this ?
23:10:27pamaury(the gerrit part)
23:11:01saratogaSettings > Watched Projects
23:11:34saratogaactually I haven't tried it since I check gerrit regularly but i believe it works
23:11:46gevaertsIt does work, yes
23:12:56pamauryok thanks

23:36:14jlbiasinihey I have a question! Why is that frequency setting newly impleted in the playback setting?? Shouldn't it be in sound?

23:37:47jlbiasiniplayback is for repeat, random the way or order we pass from one song to the other
23:38:13gevaertsjlbiasini: you're making a sound argument there :)
23:39:59jlbiasiniI don't know I've read so much of consistency discution, that I thought this could be important...
23:40:28gevaertsYou definitely have a point
23:41:14jlbiasiniby the way I wanted to test the difference of the frequencey and I found a strange bug

23:42:52jlbiasiniI have to do some more test to check if my file is not broken but fore the moment here is the situation
23:44:16jlbiasiniI have some improbable file (96khz, 24 bit, surround 5.1) one song ~ 400MB!) :D
23:44:32jlbiasiniit's flac
23:45:30jlbiasiniif I play it from the beginning when it reach around 1 min 37 sec, the song get skip and it jump to the next one
23:46:26jlbiasiniif I fast forward from the very beginning upon a few second but still way before the place where it jump, then no jump occurs
23:47:53jlbiasinialso by the end of the song (it's about 7min) I tried to make some action and the player interface was kind of freezed not entirely but clearly not being happy...
23:48:06jlbiasinidoes this sound familiar?
23:49:04jlbiasinifinally it skiped to another song (a real normal mp3 one) and everything went back normal
