12:36:38rewksup? I had to reinstall my rockbox os, since at some point, it stated it couldnt find the folder. Now all my music is missing, though i know it's in the pod somewhere, is there a way to recover this?
12:37:13rewk(Building database gets stuck at 276 tunes, even if there's like 60 gigs)
12:39:35wodzrewk: check filesystem first
12:40:51rewkmounted the partition, and it doesn't even show on gparted.
12:42:07wodznow you know why files are missing
12:42:24rewkyeh but wut do nao?
12:43:03wodzdnou j
12:43:18rewk*pouts*
12:43:43rewkI hope the solution is not: run itunes and reformat errthing.
12:44:15wodzno the solution is run checkdisk / fsck.vfat and fix filesystem
12:45:01rewki don't think those are linux programs are they?
12:45:36AlexPchkdsk is Windows, fsck.vfat is Linux
12:48:03rewkThere is no backup boot sector.
12:48:04rewkAnd there is no space for creating one!
12:48:06rewk:O
12:48:26AlexPare you checking the correct partition?
12:48:43AlexPNot the hidden boot one (guessing which ipod you have)

12:49:07AlexPoh, this is a classic?
12:49:12rewkfsck.vfat -a /dev/sdi
12:49:19rewk*nods*
12:49:33AlexPYou probably want to be doing that on the partition, not the device
12:49:37AlexPas in /dev/sdi1
12:49:42rewkoh
12:49:45AlexPBut I'm guessing how the classic works
12:50:07AlexPI'm assuming it is partiioned :)
12:50:10rewkheh, the problem is it doesn't recog any partitions
12:50:24rewkas i said before it doesn't even show on gparted.
12:50:31AlexPwell, as I say I don't know what I expect the classic partition layout to be

17:11:00NarodYeah, it's combined with the Power/Option button. That's the point. I assumed that it would work like the power button on the Fuze+. (Clicking it once causes the device to be keylocked)
17:11:37pamauryI just put the minimal keymap on it, patches are welcome to improve it
17:12:12NarodI was looking into it this morning, I may take a look at it later today. :)
17:15:26pamauryif you do some modification, be careful that the same keymap is used by the E360 and E370, so some parts must be made conditional on HAS_BUTTON_HOLD probably, and the existence of VOLUME_UP/DOWN
17:16:30NarodYeah, saw that. I wonder, though. Which one of the buttons is the power button? I see up, down, left, right, back and...0. As well as button_lradc_end
17:16:51NarodIf the last one is the hold button, I guess I should move it to the E360 section?
17:19:11pamauryno, the "power" button is not handled by the lradc, that's another story, you don't have to touch this code. Just focus on apps/keymap/sony-nwe.c (whatever the name is)

21:43:20havrehi everybody.. tried to install rockbox with installer from osx: couldn't select any mountpoint. Linux: couldn't select right mountpoint. Virtual Windows: couldnt connect to ipod even though it was connected to virtual machine. Then i tried to do a manual install but couldn't figure out how to do the windows formatting.. Any tips?
21:43:58gevaertsWhich device?
21:44:06havreipod video 5g 30gb
21:44:30havrewith cf card, working fine with ios
21:44:40gevaertsHFS or FAT?
21:44:58havrehfs atm
21:45:23havrecan i choose fat when restoring in osx? think not
21:45:42gevaertsRight. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why rockbox utility doesn't like any mountpoint

21:46:01havreyeah but have no access to native windows box
21:46:28gevaertsNot from itunes, no. You have to either use itunes on windows or follow http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodConversionToFAT32
21:47:02havrei would like to format it myself but found it hard... diskdump gave me shit when i tried to copy the binary from the site
21:47:28gevaertsGetting it to connect to the VM would be best, but I can't really offer advice on how to do that, except by speculating it's probably itunes (or osx itself?) that's blocking things
21:48:13havrehow do i know if my device is 512 byte sectors or 2048?
21:48:14*gevaerts doesn't use osx, so he can't really offer detailed help. Someone else might of course...
21:48:27gevaertsHmmm
21:48:49havresite says ipodpatcher, but there must be another way
21:50:24gevaertsWell, on linux I'd look at dmesg output. I'd guess that possibly disk utility might show it somewhere, but I couldn't speculate where
21:50:44havredmesg is fine in osx
21:51:04gevaertsYes, but does it show what you need to know?
21:51:14gevaertsWorth a try, I guess :)

22:01:24havrehow should I interpret step 'e' in the guide when my ipod apparently allready is fat formatted after i did diskdump of the binary? pic -> http://imgur.com/WzkKaVB
22:02:23havrein linux you would do mkfs.fat32 /dev/sdX?
22:03:47gevaertsIf it already is FAT, just fixing the partition table should be enough

22:43:28havreand only slightly linux compatible :) would it be possible to just have precompiled .img's to dd to the ipod
22:44:26AlexPslightly Linux compatible?
22:44:56havrethe fat formatting is a hassle :P
22:45:15AlexPthe installer is significantly more user friendly than dd for 99.99999999% of people
22:45:21gevaertsOnly ipods have that issue
22:45:38AlexPthat's quite specific to iPods that have been used with a Mac
22:47:05AlexPand most people have access to Windows somewhere or other which makes converting it simple
