07:54:25zombikHi! So my clip+ has died after 2 years and I'm looking for a new MP3 player. Does anyone have any recommendations for a MP3 player that is supported by rockbox?
07:54:41zombikor is clip+ still a good choice?
07:55:55[Saint]Depends entirely on your requirements
07:56:32[Saint]Flash based? Large screen? Color? Monochrome?
07:56:49[Saint]Available as new? Refurb?
07:56:59[Saint]There's a lot to consider.
07:59:11zombikWell, clip+ is my point of reference. So I'm mostly looking for "clip+ but better", maybe a little bigger display, maybe a bit longer battery life. Sound quality is top priority of course.
08:00
08:02:34zombikI mean I'm kinda tempted to go for clip+ again, but I have not been following the MP3 player news for a few years
08:03:39[Saint]The Fuze+ is kinda nice, but its touchpad is abominable.
08:03:56[Saint]Rockbox makes it a LOT better, but its still crap.
08:04:10[Saint]Its just plain terrible - but you get used to it.
08:04:53[Saint]I prefer the HDD based players myself. I primarily use (slightly {and not so slightly}) modified iPods.
08:05:22[Saint]Classic 6/7G, Video 5/5.5G, Color/Photo, 4G
08:05:56zombikHmm, I have no use for that much space. Its mostly podcasts and a little music.
08:06:09[Saint]My _absolute_ favorite players are the iPod Nano 1G, but their capacity is laughable. 2GB max.
08:06:25[Saint](w/ no expansion)
08:08:20zombikHeard anything about clip zip?
08:08:48zombikLooks like its got physical buttons, a bit bigger color display...
08:10:12[Saint]the display is laughably small, and a weird dimension, but its a fairly nice player.
08:11:26[Saint]96x96px iirc.
08:11:44[Saint]so, a little higher, but not as wide.
08:17:11zombikYeah... after looking through the specs it does not look like much of an improvement
08:18:03zombikI guess I'll stick to the tried and true clip+, its a safer bet than trying out something new
08:18:28zombikThanks for your advice!

10:47:50wodzpamaury: why do you actually initialize pointers to 0 instead of NULL? I know this makes no difference after all but looks weird
10:48:12pamaurybecause in C++ that's the right way of initialising a pointer
10:49:01pamauryactually starting from c++11 it should be nullptr
10:49:37wodzwhats wrong with NULL then?
10:51:08preglowit's not how to do it in c++
10:51:09pregloweasy
10:51:15preglowdifferent conventions
10:51:32pamaurythe standard says "A null pointer constant is an integral constant expression (5.19) rvalue of integer type that evaluates to zero."
10:51:52pamauryso in C++, the only valid definition for NULL is 0, and not (void *)0
10:52:23pamaurywhich makes it quite useless
10:52:34wodzok, thanks for clarification
10:52:46wodzyou always learn something new
10:52:49pamaurybut really we should all switch to c++11 and use nullptr ;)
10:55:44pamauryexcept g++ will stay forver with C++98 by default I guess, just like it's stuck to c89 by default
11:00
11:04:15wodzpamaury: What should I do with FillTreeIMX233() and FillTreeRK27XX() to be c++ convention compliant? Should they be in ClockAnalyser class or where?
11:05:06pamauryyeah, you have to put them in the header, in the class definition, in the protected section
11:05:20pamauryjust like FillTree()
11:09:21wodzpamaury: http://pastie.org/9569881
11:09:45wodzwhy soc was in scope when not wrapped around another method?
11:10:10pamaurywodz: should be m_soc
11:10:27pamauryin the constructor that was one of the parameter
11:10:42pamauryit is given to Analyser which puts in the class variable m_soc
11:11:01wodzah, stupid me
11:11:43wodzok, works. The only thing left is the bug with refreshing tab
11:14:11pamauryso when you load the file, the analyser list is not updated ?
11:15:43wodzpamaury: it works the first time i.e open qeditor, load dump, switch to Analyzers tab and pick analyzer. This all work. But if you then switch back to Register tab and again to Analyzers the clock tree is not populated

19:01:05Guest_14083Hello! I wonder if somebody could help me? I'm trying to use a theme which replaces the USB connected screen on my Clip Zip. See theme KnK: http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=2167&target=sansaclipzip
19:01:16Guest_14083The approach used in this theme works on the sim but not the device... Any ideas?
19:01:49Guest_14083NB, It uses display 21 however this is not listed in the manual (which only has 1-20).
19:03:01Guest_14083Any advice on why behaviour differs between sim and hardware?

19:49:59Guest_14083If anybody is able to help with the above USB connected screen query please do let me know - I've just taken a look at the Rockbox source and I cannot see how it'd ever work without a private build. However, it works in the sim so I guess I'm missing something there.
19:50:20Guest_14083I've contacted the theme developer and will try and take another look at the source if I get a chance but in the meantime, I'd love any clues!
19:50:21Guest_14083Thanks.
19:50:29ZincAlloyisn't that theme meant to be used with an unsupported build?
19:53:21Guest_14083I thought that was just for 'fine tune'. He gives some patches in his thread but none of these seem to be related.
19:53:48Guest_14083It does not look to me as though there is support for the usb screen to be returned as a current screen (%cs) and the manual would also agree.
19:54:11Guest_14083So I imagine it must be a custom build... But I thought the theme dev would've given the source/patches for any changes.

19:54:50Guest_14083Unless I'm missing the obvious... Which is very possible!

23:07:40gevaertsIt's meant to be type 0
23:07:51makotothat's raw right?
