07:46:42paranoidandroidNo, it does not show up in Nautica (File Managaer)
07:47:01paranoidandroidI suspect the hardware is fine?
07:48:32paranoidandroidWill I need to re-install Rockbox?
07:49:53foolshAre you familiar enough that you use a partitioner to try and create a fat32 partition on the device? Yes you will have to reinstall rockbox if you can get the drive partitioned, BUT you do not have to reinstall the boot loader, just a copy of the .rockbox folder to the root of the player should be enough
07:50:27foolshgparted is great GUI disk partitioner
07:50:59paranoidandroidYes :)
07:51:02paranoidandroidI have gparted
07:51:04JdGordonhang on a sec
07:51:12paranoidandroidAlright, thanks for the help
07:51:18JdGordon[Saint]: [7]: ^
07:53:45paranoidandroidgparted is locked up in the partition for my device
07:53:52paranoidandroidDoesn't allow any edits
07:54:44foolshparanoidandroid: Are you running gparted with sudo?
07:54:55paranoidandroidyes
07:55:13paranoidandroid(Other partitions allow edits)
07:56:16***Alert Mode OFF
07:56:46[7]paranoidandroid: so you say that suddenly (after a reboot) rockbox says that the partition is gone?
07:57:09[7]did you have emcore's winter theme boot menu before that? if so, is it still there? or did it change to a blue background?
07:57:49paranoidandroidThe winter theme is still there.
07:58:03[7]ok, so emcore can mount the partition, just rockbox can't... weird
07:58:18paranoidandroidI shut the device down, put it in my pocket (at an airport pickup for 15 minutes), booted it up, and got the error message.
07:58:29paranoidandroidStrangest thing.
07:58:38[7]I assume the same thing happens if you boot the rockbox fallback image from emcore's tools menu?
07:58:47paranoidandroidI didn't take it through any X-RAY machines or anything either lol
07:58:50paranoidandroidYes
07:58:55[7]hm
07:59:05paranoidandroidAll EmCORE features work just fine however
07:59:28[7]so in the rockbox fallback image, is the drive visible to a computer?
08:00
08:00:41paranoidandroidNo.
08:00:47paranoidandroidgparted gets it though

08:06:19paranoidandroidGet ready:
08:07:29paranoidandroidEdit: http://pastebin.com/VGExiW08
08:07:35paranoidandroidSry
08:07:54[7]ok, so /dev/sda is your system disk, as expected
08:08:51[7]not sure why a partition would be called like that, but /dev/sda2 definitely can't be on your ipod. (I'm sure it's there even with the ipod disconnected)
08:09:20[7]I'm not quite understanding yet what's going on here, how emcore can mount a drive that rockbox can't...
08:09:31paranoidandroidI think that was a bug
08:09:31[7]anything special about this ipod? CF/SD card mod or anything?
08:09:38paranoidandroidNo longer labelled my ipod now
08:09:52paranoidandroidipod doesn't show up anymore in gparted after device refresh
08:09:59paranoidandroidno sd card mod
08:10:29[7]if losing data doesn't matter, it might be worth a try to just reformat the data partition from emcore's tools menu

08:11:39paranoidandroidAh
08:11:42paranoidandroidDidn't think of that
08:11:57paranoidandroidEmCORE will still be there though?
08:11:59[7]yes
08:12:14[7]I'm just not sure if it will help, as I don't understand yet what the problem is in the first place

08:13:06paranoidandroidI think it would be better to just leave the snow. ;)
08:13:33[7]you'll have a blue one after that ;)
08:13:36paranoidandroidOh wait
08:13:38[7](but you can of course reinstall the winter theme)
08:13:42paranoidandroidthe screenshot is messed up
08:13:44paranoidandroidhow?
08:13:57paranoidandroidDon't answer that
08:14:06paranoidandroidIs there actually a whole set of themes though?

08:38:24[7]paranoidandroid: doom is known broken on the classic, although typically with some other issues
08:38:35[7]paranoidandroid: so reformatting from emcore's menu helped?
08:38:46paranoidandroidYes, works 100% now
08:38:48paranoidandroidThanks
08:39:08[7]if you want to get the winter theme back, just run the emcore installer again
08:39:10paranoidandroidDoom is a shame
08:39:23paranoidandroidThat's OK, I had it in quick boot mode anyway
08:39:32[7](boot umsboot from emcore tools menu, drop in the ubi file, eject, wait a few seconds, and that's it)
08:39:33paranoidandroidIs there a way to get Apple OS back BTW?
08:39:36paranoidandroidJust in case
08:39:51[7]paranoidandroid: yes, just restore using itunes (from DFU mode)
08:40:14[7]paranoidandroid: and, if I finally get around to finishing up some work in progress, we'll also have dualboot :)
08:40:15paranoidandroidWill this overwrite rockbox and emcore?
08:40:20[7]yes
08:40:34paranoidandroidok
08:40:50paranoidandroidrockbox is truly outstanding :)
08:40:51[7]the roadblocks that prevented dualboot have been removed, but that stuff still needs some polishing to be useful
08:41:11paranoidandroidanother random question:
08:41:19[7]and enabling dualboot will essentially require completely removing emcore first, then reinstalling a new version
08:41:27paranoidandroidhmm
08:41:41paranoidandroidIs there a "hack" to play non mpeg file types?
08:41:51[7]if you mean video, then no
08:41:57paranoidandroidOk.
08:42:13[7]only that mpeg2 codec has been implemented so far, and I don't see that changing anytime soon
08:42:38[7]video just isn't rockbox's area of focus
08:44:24paranoidandroidI can't seem to find a decent converter in Linux
