11:21:23wodzpamaury: btw. sending 80 clocks to the card before initialization helps only in the area that all cards that I have started to behave consistently. I still have strange 'aligning' issue. Running from uncached address doesn't change anything (except for code running sloooow). Playing with compiler optimization gives mixed results but I thing this may very well be the consequence of code shift in memory.
11:21:30fs-bluebotGerrit review #80 at http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/80 : skin engine: New logical 'and' and 'or' tags to evaluate multiple tags in a single... by Jonathan Gordon
11:21:35wodzpfff
11:22:15pamauryyeah this one is weird, maybe a timing or clock issue ?
11:22:48wodzclock issue should manifest equally in all commands I think.
11:23:50pamauryif that's an internal bus clock problem, it should only happen on data commands. Is it always the same command(s) failing ?
11:24:20wodzah, you mean system/mem/etc. bus inside soc?
11:26:14pamauryyes
11:26:53wodzwell, I run the commands with the same clock settings as hwstub do. Hwstub works, C code not
11:27:03pamauryok
11:27:07pamauryweird indeed
11:27:22pamauryhave you tried to insert a delay after each register write ?
11:28:14wodzanyway, I can move asm volatile("nop") which makes things work here and there between functions so it doesn't look like particularly important delay
11:29:58wodzand 1 nop is like 0.03 us in this configuration - barely noticeably. Moreover there is the pattern that 1 and 2 nops -> working 3-4 nops -> nonworking, 5-6 nops -> working
11:30:06wodzI didn't check further
11:31:23wodzpamaury: ^
11:31:25pamauryhow is it possible that code alignement changes anything when memory is not cached ?!
11:31:58pamaurythe other possibility is that of bad code generation of course
11:32:19wodzhmm, might try different compiler indeed
11:32:58pamauryor maybe compiler the compiler output when you move the nop ?
11:33:01pamaury*compare
11:33:59pamaurymips doesn't have instruction hazard ? (like you must not execute some instruction right after another)
11:35:04wodzI tried to compare. But it is hard as linker may realign functions when it decides to throw out something. So moving nops down the call chain doesn't produce linear shift in memory
11:35:33pamauryI see
11:35:49pamauryso yeah another compiler maybe
11:35:52wodzpamaury: 4k core is interlocked so despite very special situations the hazard should be resolved by the hardware
11:36:06pamauryok that's what I thought
11:41:23wodzI see one possibility of misbehaving. Rather unlikely but... If dram configuration is wrong there should be address boundary where you hit memory alias instead of 'continuous' address. BUT this should have severe consequences and manifest early.
11:42:52wodzmaybe I should cheat and try to run this code off iram to exclude this possibility

12:24:02wodzhwstub runs entirely from iram. Thats the big difference. I need to investigate this definitely.
12:27:22pamaurywodz: indeed, your theory is not that bad actually, dram config is quite subtle, if you get it wrong, strange things could happen
12:30:41pamauryhow do you configure the memory ?
12:31:12wodzI upload first stage grabbed from e150 firmware package.
12:31:57wodzI think I checked how dram behaves with hwstub but I may be wrong

12:33:35wodzWhat makes me wonder is that uploading first stage didn't work on your e100 AFAIK
