03:58:32ChaosDuckno imean like
03:58:38ChaosDuckok so
03:58:50ChaosDucki have all my music on the sansas 32 gig memory card
03:59:04ChaosDuckif i go into rockbox database, i can see all of those fine
03:59:24ChaosDucknow, i make a playlist and put it in its own folder
03:59:27ChaosDuckon the memory card
03:59:41ChaosDuckand theres no way to access the playlist on the database
03:59:48ChaosDuckthe only way i can access it is via the file browser
04:00
04:00:10ChaosDuckand if i do it that way, it only displays file names not the songs ID tags so its really annoying
04:00:38ChaosDuckbasically i want a way to have my playlist in the database with it showing songs by ID tags
04:00:45ChaosDuckjust like it does to my songs already.
04:00:56ChaosDuckI dont want to have to use the file browser to play my playlists
04:01:02ChaosDucki hope i explained the problem well
04:01:06ChaosDuckits kinda confusing to me
04:02:19ChaosDucki just want a nice simple way to access my music and the playlists i make with foobar2000 lol
04:02:25ChaosDuckto put it simply
04:03:14ChaosDuckAlso, nothing shows up in the playlist catalogue
04:03:47ChaosDucki put my .m3u files in their own folder next to the MUSIC folder on the sansas memory card
04:08:20ChaosDuckis my problem making sense?
04:11:07ChaosDuckBasically, to simplify it even more (for now). Is there any way to display your playlist by ID tags instead of file name?

10:27:53gevaertsUller: there's no such thing as a generic build. Also, I'd recommend using a current development build instead of 3.13. 3.13 is getting rather old, and at this point a development build is likely to work a lot better

20:51:33pamauryyes

20:58:49saratogabefore i forget, is there some reason we can't mark the other imx targets as stable now?
21:00
21:08:30saratogapamaury: is memory or cache on the imx21 very slow?
21:08:44saratogaCPU is the same model as AMSv2, however, codecs run much slower
21:09:56pamaurysaratoga: some imx targets are almost unused these days, but yeah I would like to promote fuze+ and nwz e370/80 to stable,, and maybe zen xfi3 to unstable
21:10:21pamaurysaratoga: imx233 you mean ? The memory is very slow (I mean it's ddr ram), but the cache is not particularly slow, why ?
21:10:49saratogapamaury: looking at codecs, AMSv2 at 240 MHz is faster than the Fuze+ (at 450MHz?)
21:10:49pamauryhowever imx233 has almost no iram
21:10:59pamauryfuze+ runs at 64MHz almost all the time
21:11:18pamauryin fact iram is disabled for codecs I think
21:12:35saratogaipod classic is much faster too, and i don't think it has much IRAM (have to check however)
21:13:19pamaurywhat did you use to compare them ?
21:13:34pamauryare you sure you compared with about the same cpu frequency ?
21:13:34saratogahttp://www.rockbox.org/wiki/Main/CodecPerformanceComparison#Freescale_i.MX21_40454MHz_ARM926EJ_45S_44_Fuze_43_41
21:13:40saratogai'm rerunning the test now
21:15:41pamaurysaratoga: if you edit the wiki, replace imx21 by imx233
21:16:52saratogadone
21:17:12saratogasome of the numbers are a bit odd too, like mp3 is much slower than i would expect given the speed of other formats
21:18:27pamaurydo you knoz if the test boost the cpu or not ?
21:18:41pamauryyou could try to manually boost, see if it makes a difference
21:19:21saratogait should boost the CPU
21:19:33saratogaalthough i wonder if the MHz reported are off?
21:19:45pamauryyou mean cpu speed ?
21:20:19pamaurythe speed reported was wrong until recently (it was reported in kHz instead of MHz) but now is fixed
21:20:49saratogatrue speed is 454 MHz?
21:20:57pamauryyeah
21:21:59pamaurymore precisely, clk_p@454.74 MHz, clk_h@151.58 MHz, clk_emi@130.91 MHz, VDDD@1.550 V
21:22:06saratogawhats weird is MP3 is 1.5x faster on AMSv2, but imx233 is double the speed for FLAC
21:22:31saratogamemory clock on those AMSv2 tests is 24 or 40 MHz (depending on test)
21:22:46pamauryweird, I would expect double the speed everywhere, since 450 is almost twice 240
21:22:53saratogaand same CPU
21:23:28pamaurybut maybe the memory is much slower so for memory bounded tests, the amsv2 is better ?
21:23:58saratogaon AMS at least, MP3 is relatively insensitive to memory speed (small data sizes so it caches well)
21:23:59pamauryI remember running some memory tests but I don't remember the results, do we have a plugin for this or not ?
21:24:22pamaurywhat is the cache size on amsv2 ?
21:25:11saratoga8KB/8KB on v1, I think same on v2
21:25:14pamaury(or is the same because it's the same processor ?)
21:25:23saratogai think they can configure different sizes
21:25:31pamauryimx233 has 16/16
21:26:20saratoga"The size of the caches can be from 4KB to 128KB, in power of two increments."
21:26:51saratogaand its configured ideally (not something weird like one of two is disabled or something)
21:27:12saratoga?
21:28:12pamauryas far as I know, it is configured as recommended in the datasheet, there is a register to control cache timing
21:29:08pamauryyou would notice if it was disable, the device is incredibly slow without the cache
21:30:13*pamaury checks if iram is used
21:30:17pamauryamsv2 has plenty of iram
21:30:21saratogaare there different modes like write through that might slow it down a little?
21:30:28saratogaon AMSv2 IRAM is not very fast however
21:32:27pamauryipod classic has a fair amount of iram too
21:32:27pamaurynot that I know, I can check the mmu settings

21:34:48pamaurydo you know if there coprocessor specific operation that would control the cache ?
21:35:12saratogano, but i haven't looked closely at cache on ARM
21:35:21saratogai remember it was a problem on AMSv1 in the early days however
21:36:43saratogai'll try the test mem plugin once test_codec is finished running
21:36:50pamauryok
21:37:33saratogaha test_mem on the clip is so cut off its almost unusable

21:45:32pamaurysaratoga: as far as I can tell from the code, both amsv2 and ipod classic have a fair amount of iram: amsv2 runs codecs from iram, and ipod classic 256KB of it, I don't know if it makes a difference or not but that's the obvious difference between those targets
21:45:40robertdThank you for your answer pamaury. http://pastebin.com/gvv2gH2w
21:45:50pamauryfor example to static tables in iram for decoding ?
21:46:18saratogaon amsv2 everything is run out of IRAM, but I don't think its actually much (or any?) faster than DRAM
21:47:02saratogaespecially when the IRAM is run at 24 MHz, memory accesses are quite slow still I think
21:47:31saratogathe frequency scaling stuff changed it to 96 MHz and everything got a LOT faster
21:48:17saratogadebug screen on amsv2 actually prints the cp15 register output, but i'm nto sure which register its actually showing

21:57:03saratogaannoyingly plugin iram is not setup on amsv2 so its hard to bench it
