17:23:55autarkhi guys. quick question for the sansa experts: if my clip+ rev 21 only reports a raw device of 31MB, even when shortening the pins for recovery mode according to wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick, the internal flash is gone. Correct? Any way to salvage the player?
17:25:40gevaertsI don't think I've ever heard about anyone actually recovering a "naturally" bricked AMS sansa
17:26:35gevaertsI think there were some early ones that were bricked during bootloader development, but I'm fairly convinced that the ones that suddenly go bad are due to hardware issue
17:26:38gevaertss
17:28:31autarkyeah.. mine started acting up a couple of days ago. strange freezes, reboots, etc. all signs of bit rot / corrupting file system. but the battery has been on it's last leg for a while, too. yesterday I could not get the player to turn on at all, so I replaced the battery.. still no dice. I guess the internal flash died :/
17:32:21autarktoo bad the NOS clips are way overpriced and there is no real rockboxable alternative that meets the clips specs yet, afaik :\

20:25:53johnb2pamaury: the situation he described was when keeping holding vol+ or vol-. It's kinda going on and off (which I guess is due to the fact that you change driver and dac values).
20:26:10johnb2It doesn't "feel" continous.
20:26:50pamauryah well if that's just that it cannot be helped. I don't control the timing of the driver, whereas the pcm volume change is almost instantenous
20:28:24pamauryIn principle, if we assume the codec are really 24-bit, there is another approach to volume management that mostly avoids this
20:28:34johnb2In real life usage, i.e. just doing 2 or 3 steps one by one, I don't think it's an issue. But let's lebellium confirm my description.
