10:19:37wodzpamaury: I think crash in codec on rocker is mips specific and is related to the way codecs are loaded in rb and usage of global data. If my theory is correct the fix may be as simple as passing proper flags to gcc.

20:31:36saratogaI managed to get the current Ubuntu LTS release down to ~850 MB with the ARM build tools
20:31:56saratogai'm sure it could be compacted further but i didn't try very hard

20:33:48saratogajohnb2: what else did you remove from the VM to get the size so small?
20:35:03johnb2180MB was the arm-linux toolchain (90 compressed). Libreoffice, Thunderbird.
20:35:42johnb2That should have been the big bites.
20:35:49saratogaok i removed that, maybe newer ubuntu is just larger
20:37:19johnb2So SAINT tricked you in trying to create a clean and up-to-date image ;-)
20:38:34johnb2and then the dd BIGFILE operation and afterwards the −−compress of vboxmanage.
20:41:29johnb2I just now read the logs. I personally wouldn't worry about the 850MB. You only once for a long time.
20:43:44johnb2*only do that once

21:03:32saratogai didn't build the other toolchains beside arm, do any make sense or are they easy enough to build manually?

21:31:13saratogagerrit update broke it, hopefully fixed soon
21:33:38pamaurysaratoga: you know the codec/audio code right?
21:38:41pamauryis there a way to make the dsp codec output 32-bit samples instead of 16?
21:40:37 Quit smoke_fumus (Quit: KVIrc 4.2.0 Equilibrium http://www.kvirc.net/)
21:44:26jhMikeSpamaury: do different versions of sample_output_mono/stereo/dithered. of course that's not compatible with pcm buffer or mixer
21:44:36saratogapamaury: all the DSP is done in 32 bit right now, but its converted before the mixer
21:45:17pamauryyes I know but I don't understand what to change and to configure the stuff, the dsp code is really alien to me
21:45:40saratogato have 32 bit playback?
21:46:10pamauryI want to have 32-bit playback because of Sony's crazy design, the only sane way to handle the volume is to do it in software and send 32-bit pcm samples
21:46:31saratogais the sony DAC actually >16 bit?
21:46:37pamaurycurrently I am doing 16-bit -> 32-bit + scaling in pcm-alsa.c but that's stupid
21:46:46pamauryI am pretty sure it is yes
21:47:06saratogaprobably worth testing it with RMAA to see if it can really do 100dB
21:47:15saratogaif it can't, just scale at the end, its more memory efficient
21:47:19pamauryand if it isn't, it does not matter because without software volume, the DAC clips
21:47:34saratogaif it can, then you'd have to add 32 bit sample support to the pcm buffer
21:48:22pamauryok, I'll look into it
21:48:26*pamaury needs to go
