14:11:06jrmuok, I will keep a look out if I see any players supported by Rockbox
14:12:27***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
14:13:08BilgusPamaury is definitely the more senior dev in here so he'd be able to say for sure but yw. the fuze+ is one you could still get but is kinda quirky with its touchpad and (a few?) of the chinese players or ipods, and a bunch of Sonys pamaury has ported
14:15:10Bilgusotherwise I paid ~$100USD for a NOS clip+ but I mean I could have bought used for like ~$50 Its still my favorite player ever
14:19:22jrmuBilgus: thanks for clarifying. I may have to just get whatever I can find
14:20:15jrmuI don't think they manufacture mp3 players anymore, right? But probably the only ones I can find easily are the ipods
14:20:26jrmudo you still find having a rockbox player to be much better than a smartphone?
14:21:16jrmuI mostly use my phone as an audio reader, never use it for phone calls
14:37:32BilgusI love having an mp3 player, after 2 destroyed smart phones I've gone back to a dumb phone circa 2010? I bought like 3 of em NOS and Ive killed one in the last 3 or 4 years not to mention the battery life its just more convenient imo to have a device that does one thing well
14:38:33jrmuI can completely relate. The smartphone battery dies too fast, and in general is just too complicated
14:38:33Bilgusnow I will say part of the whole mp3 player thing is because of the clip+ being small i can clip it to a shirt pocket and not have to worry about it
14:38:33jrmuusually I just want to listen to audio
14:39:46jrmuIs Rockbox just in maintenance mode now, though?
14:40:35jrmuI think the mp3 player market has died
14:42:37BilgusI think pamaury has singlehandedly added 6 or so ports and theres a few others in progress but yes there are fewer and fewer capable mp3 players so the just keep getting more expensive as the market gets smaller and you have less economy of scale to keep them cheap
14:44:39Bilgusbut you know I would have thought records were dead 5 years ago
14:44:59jrmuthere are always nostalgic fans

20:01:21tomflintI'm running the iflash quad with an 80gb logic board now. It's been great.
20:02:21tomflintI wasn't sure how much of an impact 32mb of RAM vs 64mb would have with playback.
20:03:35saratogait doesn't affect playback
20:04:10saratogaon a hard drive device it'll have slightly better battery life due to less frequent disk spin ups
20:04:33saratogabut that wasn't a huge difference, and for a time we didn't even use the extra memory on 64 MB devices

20:12:53tomflintoh nice! that's great news. A guy is selling me a 5.5 30gb logic board with the screen and click wheel for $20, so I think I'm going to make another modded ipod for a friend
20:13:54tomflintthanks, saratoga!
