17:20:21jay567Hello. I recently got around to updating my Clip Zip to 3.14. Now it seems it can't read the SD card after a while of play. Somehow I remember this was a know problem, am I right? Any tips?

17:25:41Bilgusjay567, I haven't seen that issue nor do I remember it being a known issue I assume turning it off and back on fixes it does the same song make it re-occur or does it go for awhile again before repeating?
17:26:48jay567Bilgus, I didn't take notes yet, but I think it's not perfectly reproducible with the same song.
17:27:02BilgusAlso are you using the release version or the development version?
17:27:40jay567Release I think. Just used the update utility (on linux64).
17:28:29Bilguseither way try using the opposite version and see if it continues one last thing to try I have a version compiled that raises the voltages to the sdcard and cpu by default that you might try
17:28:59Bilgushttp://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,52058.0.html
17:32:55BilgusIf this is an issue during usb unplug there is a patch that fixes it but I'd suspect voltage issues

23:09:15jay567Okay thanks.
23:09:23jay567I'm building the toolchain right now.
23:09:29Bilgusbuilding RB isn't too very complicated we even have a handy guide https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HowToCompile
23:10:46jay567I just don't want to install it in any system directory... I set RBDEV_PREFIX to something inside my home.
23:10:52Bilgusdev versions are already compiled here: http://build.rockbox.org/ you don't need to compile yourself unless you want to add patches that haven't been pushed to head yet

23:15:16jay567Is there an easy way to keep my config when trying different firmwareversions?
23:15:23jay567*firmware versions
23:17:46Bilgusthe vbest idea is to make a copy of your whole rb directory and the .cfg file as well
23:18:42Bilgusdepending on how far you are jumping the cfg file will work between versions but if you are having issues its the first thing I delete

23:27:16jay567It did stop showing the SD card on my PC when plugging the Clip Zip in. This was without any change in the firmware, I tried removing the SD card and rebooting the player in multiple combinations but that didn't bring it back. then I changed the firmware to the clipzip_powersave_12-5-17_rockbox-full version, and the player seemed to play fine from the card, but it still won't show on the PC.

23:44:01Bilgusthat might just be an issue of the pc you should probably try a different usb port

23:52:26jay567Different cable too. Also on the backside ports.
