10:17:54HorrorcatHi. My sansa clip+ does not turn on its display anymore, apparently. It had a timeframe where it wouldn’t turn the display on irregularily, but now it hasn’t turned it on for several hours of "uptime" (not consecutively)
10:18:00HorrorcatIs that a known phenomenon?
10:18:11Horrorcatdoes anyone know how those can be opened without harm?
10:21:46k1w1all electronics will eventually fail, especially the more you use them
10:22:02Horrorcatsure
10:22:05k1w1yes, it can be opened. use those plastic priers, and start from the corner
10:22:11Horrorcatalright, thanks
10:22:18k1w1but I'm not sure about replacing the lcd
10:22:21Horrorcatthat is what I was assuming, but I wanted to double-check before I break something
10:22:34Horrorcatdo you know whether the display has a cable which might’ve come loose?
10:22:51k1w1I'm 75% sure it doesn't have a cable
10:23:10k1w1I opened mine a few days ago and don't remember seeing any
10:23:21Horrorcatit’s also an (O?)LED display; anyway, I’ll take a look inside and if I can’t find anything obvious, I’ll see how that TTS/morse stuff is going :)
10:24:46HorrorcatI also used to be able to kickstart the display by plugging in USB, so I’m thinking it might be some power wire gone loose or so
10:25:21k1w1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beMcITVdZcE > check this video btw
10:25:35k1w1regarding how to open and how it looks inside
10:25:35Horrorcatohhh good idea
10:26:43k1w1ahh seems like there is a cable connecting to the display
10:26:47k1w1you might be in luck
10:26:54k1w1especially if you have to replace it
10:27:01k1w1no soldering helps a lot
10:30:19Horrorcatoh yeah, that looks like the type of cable which can easily come loose

10:41:43k1w1I was gonna say that the QC of the sansa players was not great, but then again, i've had mine for 7+ years now and only had to change the battery last week
10:41:55k1w1everything else seems fine
10:42:08k1w1ok the volume- button is a bit screwed
10:50:44_bilgusthe screens do eventually burn out but usually a bad connection Horrorcat also remove sd card first and don'y pry over the slot for the sd card
10:51:18k1w1both good advice ^
10:51:43_bilgusfold it over at the bottom the battery will be connected to the circuit board at the bottom and the battery is typically stuck to the back half of the case
