#rockbox log for 2024-02-18

00:00:13chrIs_sI suggested to revert both of these changes in g#3947, because it got rid of the album artist menu completely.
00:00:16rb-bluebotGerrit review #3947 at https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/3947 : Revert "Database: Fix tag_albumartist; new tag_virt_canonicalartist." by Christian Soffke
00:00:23chrIs_sAfter some discussion in the comments, we arrived at a compromise though, where the menu entry was brought back, but didn't include the fallback behavior to the artist tag anymore.
00:01:26chrIs_sThe log seems to have eaten one of my messages: "meatloaf: fwiw, you can see that this was changed in g#3806 (along with g#3807)."
00:01:32rb-bluebotGerrit review #3806 at https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/3806 : Database: Fix tag_albumartist; new tag_virt_canonicalartist. by James D. Smith
00:01:32rb-bluebotGerrit review #3807 at https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/3807 : Database: Merge 'Album Artist' entry with 'Artist' entry. by James D. Smith
00:02:43meatloafoh, got it. that's sort of a shame.
00:03:11chrIs_syeah, personally I think I prefer the fallback behavior as well
00:03:57meatloafi would have been very disappointed if there were no 'album artist' at all, so at least that's still there. I have a lot of albums with songs performed by different artists and usually use the 'album artist' tag as a sort of grouping
00:04:11meatloafthanks for the info, though. i just went ahead and patched up the album artist tags in my files anyway, i needed to give everything a once-over

18:48:38brainard52Good afternoon, y'all. I just downloaded the 1.5.1 appimage and attempted to run it on Debian 12. It launched without issue, but it was entirely unable to connect in order to download required files. It was encountering an SSL handshake failure. I was able to download 1.4.1, install the prereqs, and install Rockbox on my device without issue. I
18:48:38brainard52wasn't able to find an actively tracked issue. Are there any obvious things I should check to make sure I'm not just missing something before I submit an issue?
