11:05:52speachy_bilgus: any flash storage device that exposes a high-level block interface will have an internal FTL of some sort.
11:06:48speachyconside the normal case for any removeable storage (==SD and more) uses FAT32, which heavily [re]writes the FAT areas; without builtin leveling you'd render those devices useless quite quickly.
11:07:54speachyalso, anyone with access to a mrobe500 and/or any TMS320-based device?
11:10:59speachyand I'd like to land the SDL2 sim thing later this weekend, unless someone can articulate a good reason to hold off..
11:13:29speachytrying to find out if the mrobe500's boot hang is unique to that device or is shaeed with the other tms320 targets
11:42:38***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
11:53:29_bilgusthats assuming the FTL is robust, I question embedded flash on these sansas and I also don't have a way to know with ant of the others either though
11:57:26_bilguscusory search turns up this ' The SD card spec has NO entry for wear leveling'

18:08:10speachy_bilgus: I vaguely recall the AMS targets having a built-in FTL of some sort. or at least we re-implemented it in a way compatible with the OF.
18:09:05speachythe SD spec is agnostic about the underlying storage mechanism. You could have SD addressible spinning rust, for example.
18:09:58speachythe idea being that the SD device firmware handles all the logical-to-physical mapping. realistically, all SD cards have some sort of FTL layer or the device would be unusable after a few hundred file operations of any sort.
18:15:51speachychris_s: thanks for the feedback, I'll respin tonight.
