08:12:04MarcAndersenI just wanted to let you know that everything with rbspeex works on my mac now. If you want I can make daily mac simulators for arm and intel as well.

08:17:55chris_sMarcAndersen: Nice! I'll let others chime in, but I think that would be very nice and greatly appreciated by Mac users
08:19:01MarcAndersenI just need to find if I can compile both intel and arm on one machine or if I need 2 machines going. Any thoughts on that?
08:21:45chris_sI suppose it could be made to work from a single Apple Silicon machine. I've only tried compiling for arm though, so not sure about the exact steps, honestly
08:23:32MarcAndersenI have no idea of how to cross compile. I think you would need to edit your main configure script, so right now I think I'll just do arm builds.
08:24:05chris_ssounds good
08:25:19MarcAndersenRight now the windows ones are built by a debian machine, but I hope I can get the mac to cross compile, but if not I just let the debian server build windows.

08:46:42sporkMarcAndersen: is there a link to your sim builds anywhere on the forum/wiki ?
08:47:32MarcAndersenOn the ui simulator page, but maybe we should put it in a place there's more accessible

08:51:23speachyI'd expect you need to figure out the right CFLAGS incantations. I don't know if you have to effective compile everything twice and magically combine them at the end, or if the tooling can create dual-arch intermediate .o files
08:52:28speachyif clang can do the latter then it's easy, if it's the former then... that's some major surgery.
08:53:06MarcAndersenWhat could be wrong here? make: *** No rule to make target `/Users/marc/rockbox/wintest/SDL.h', needed by `/Users/marc/rockbox/wintest/firmware/target/hosted/sdl/button-sdl.o'. Stop.
08:53:59MarcAndersenThis is from a windows cross compile from my m1 mac btw
08:57:38chris_sDo you have the mingw sdl2-config installed?
08:59:27chris_sI think you need mingw-w64 (e.g. using brew) and the lib (https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/releases)
09:00
09:01:12MarcAndersenYes I have. It crashes right after compiling CC firmware/panic.c
09:09:14chris_scan you check what /usr/local/bin/i686-w64-mingw32-sdl2-config returns ß
09:09:38chris_sI mean
09:09:59chris_swith −−static-libs appended
09:10:58chris_sor −−cflags
09:13:22chris_soh and I think I had to add #include <stdio.h> to button-sdl.c and system-sdl.c for some reason
09:13:33chris_s(for window cross compilation)
09:16:48MarcAndersenHmm if I compile sdl from source it went through. I will transfer it to windows and test.
09:20:23MarcAndersenIt works. Then there's no problems. I can do windows and mac arm then. Is that ok or should I do intel also?
09:25:10chris_sarm-only is probably fine, imo
09:36:05MarcAndersenI will get it set up. Right now I'm testing the perl script. I don't like perl.

10:08:01_bilgusI think I'm going to put an extra entry in the audio scratch buffer for temp_id3 then a function whic returns mp3entry get_temp_mp3entry() and if scratch memory hasn't been allocated yet we can just core_alloc one
10:10:38_bilgusproblem being that the audio scratch buffer has to be intact for us to use it and thats not guaranteed to have happened by the time we call into get_mp3entry_from_offset()
10:12:07_bilgusthe upside is that now there will be a way to get a temp id3 elsewhere (assuming no yields atm)
10:22:52_bilgusoh nice instead of core allocing one I think I can return one of the static entries, in theory if scratch memory isn't allocd audio isn't playing and we can use next_id3
