01:22:37_bilgusSpeachy the Xduoo X3 sim should be good now I found the logo demo plugin to be a decent crash generator
03:00
03:04:08_bilguswell at least that was a lot less red this time

03:24:43ParkerRI have 26 albums in a folder (all ripped using whipper and accurip for tagging). Rockbox seems to find all the songs but only shows 5 albums under the Album listing in the database. "Untagged" only shows a handful of recordings. How can I try to figure out why these arent showing up?
03:33:55_bilgusParkerR, you can do a database commit in apps/db_commit it should give you the logf output
03:34:36_bilgususe it first to disable auto commit
03:36:53ParkerROkay I disabled auto cmmit in that app. What do I run now? "Backup" or the "Delete database"?
03:37:07_bilgusgo ahead and backup
03:37:22_bilgusthen exit the plugin
03:37:37_bilgusgoto the database and first try just a update
03:38:54_bilgusif you go back into the plugin and it still says 'Nothing to commit' then delete the database, exit again click on the database wait for it to build then run the plugin and choose the last item it should say 'Commit' IIRC
03:39:47ParkerROkay I got the commit and its doing a long scroll now
03:40:18ParkerRI assume tis saving this log?
03:42:17ParkerROh yeah I see it the db_committed.log
03:43:09ParkerRAhh it looks like it missed the files. Need to wipe the database and try again
03:43:10ParkerRhttps://gist.github.com/parkerlreed/d3571697cc20b917779013e6e24feb90
03:45:40_bilgusuh ParkerR sorry I think I don't have it showing the files just errors
03:47:09_bilgusand by this time they are all discarded
03:48:08ParkerRYeah not much different on a fresh db
03:48:08ParkerRhttps://gist.github.com/parkerlreed/097fbca0b1288b7552afeb457d37eb0a
03:48:28_bilgusgive me a few days and I'll figure out a way to keep the discarded items in a different table
03:48:47ParkerRThanks
03:50:23_bilgusenabling metadata logging from the debug menu will at least allow you to verify it read the files in question
03:50:58_bilgusit should dump the filenames to metadata.log in the root
03:57:09ParkerRYeah it sees them all https://gist.github.com/parkerlreed/97fd15b90155f0382a1a0b5d65b029aa
04:00
04:01:00ParkerROH
04:01:11ParkerRUltimate Collection are all tagged as one Album
04:01:23ParkerRSo to Rockbox there's only 4
04:01:33_bilgusand thus no errors
04:01:44ParkerRGot it
04:01:47_bilguscool
04:02:42ParkerRYeah wasnt thinking about mutiple discs being the same overall "album" because of the bnaming
04:02:59ParkerRMakes sense
04:03:28ParkerRNot quite how I would logically browse it but I'll likely be using shuffle anyways
04:05:41ParkerRBeen a while since I've had a proper rockbox player :) (Just got the FiiO M3K)

12:21:34_bilguswell it ended up not being Parker R's issue but I have a patch that extends metadata logging to actually show the parser status g#6437
12:21:37rb-bluebotGerrit review #6437 at https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/6437 : [Feature] Add failure messages to metadata logging by William Wilgus
12:22:14_bilgusbetween it and the database plugin that should cover 99% of the issues users generally have
12:22:26_bilgusor at least allow them to identify them
12:23:35_bilgusI thought about loggig when probe_file_format() failed but tht just adds a lot of noise
12:26:11_bilgusI think I'll also add a switch for metadata logging in the db plugin too for one stop shopping

12:53:58gnafuParkerR: Does Whipper put disc numbers in the file metadata? I switched to cyanrip a few years ago, and that includes disc numbers in the metadata. If I look at a multi-disc album in Rockbox, the tracks are all listed under one album but they do have 1.01, 2.01, etc. numbering so you can see which disc the tracks are from.
12:54:05 Join _bilgus [0] (~bilgus@syn-162-154-213-134.res.spectrum.com)
12:54:34gnafuI wouldn't mind a disc view that shows the discname instead of the album title, but I can always use the file browser instead of the database for that.
12:56:09gnafuTalking Heads' "brick" box set all shows up as the album "Talking Heads" but at least Rockbox lists the disc numbers (1.01, 3.01, ..., 15.01) in the database view for the album.
12:56:38gnafuA lot of players don't even do that, so you just have several track 1s all in a jumble.
12:57:37gnafuI don't remember how Whipper handles multi-disc metadata, but I like that cyanrip includes the album, discname, and disc number.
13:00
13:10:20_bilgusgnafu, if you look in demos/lua_scripts/tagnav you can add filters to the custom tagnav menu or even go whole hog and make your own entries to display what you want, see the wiki https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/DataBase.html#tagnavi.config_v2.0_Syntax

13:21:24gnafu_bilgus: Ooh, thanks!
13:22:08gnafuI'll have to play with that sometime.
13:22:30gnafuEven just presenting the disc numbers has already been a nice improvement for me compared to other players.
13:22:42gnafuI should've known Rockbox would already have a standard way for me to extend that.
13:25:13_bilgusthe plugin automates some of the simpler things but its not as 'powerful'
13:25:32_bilgusfully featured?
