Initial Comment:
would be fine to have a kind of bidirectional remote
control for sending commands to the player and
receiving data like string of title currently played.

This would enable to build a lot of own
display/control units or just protocol converters for
use in cars (as you may know: a lot of modern cars
have the ability to display messages directly on the
dash board and most makers have a kind of 'enhanced
steering wheel' with controls for radios/head units
which deliver their signals on a serial bus for
control of a CD changer also)
