Subject: hard drive activity indicator

hard drive activity indicator

hey, really appreciate the work you all are doing -
very cool indeed!

i have a question. i was thinking of modding my
jukebox to change the red LED to be the hard drive
activity indicator (tie it to pin 39 of the IDE
interface). does this LED serve any useful purpose?
i have never seen it turn on...this is why i ask.
what do you guys think?

or is there any way in software to patch something to
do this? or is this pin of the IDE interface not tied
to an I/O port or interrupt on the processor/hardware
that could be detected from software?

thanks!
