'tell you what I'm gonna do' - I'll take the latest CVS source
and make it work with a strict command line nmake build;
it's pretty basic. Later today, I'm going to suggest a number
of (what I think) would be improvements in the apps code,
much reducing the hard-to-read constant #ifdefs and enabling
the ability to produce a win32 (and x11) simulator that could
run either player or recorder without having to recompile, etc.

Great job on the firmware. I'm impressed with it's simplicity
and power. I think we need a bit more abstraction into the
apps layer though... I'm going to start with the button handling,
if that sounds OK to everyone.

A slightly-better defined interface between firmware versions
and simulator versions would also help, I believe. I'll be taking
a look at this, also.

I'll produce a patch, the existing nmake makefile almost works.
I'm quite familiar with win32 and x11, and will try to jump into
the x11 later, but I'm kinda stuck on a win32 box for email
reasons right now.

BTW, does anybody have a win32 (command line) version
of diff that supports -u? I'm used to "diff -urN old/ new/"
on Linux and I'd like to submit patches in that style. Also,
I have written a recursive lf.exe and crlf.exe that will turn
entire trees from MSDOS to Linux or back so that it's easy
to keep text editors working but also submit patches in Bjorn's
requested LF-only style.
