Please explain. If you go to the menu while browsing and change
UI-mode the current directory is read again to reflect the change. How
could we make this more "while actually browsing the tree"?

Agreed but we might have to do som experimenting to get there.

Whether a feature is good or not might depend a lot on how your mp3s
are organized. I have m3u's in the root directory for all albums so an
m3u-only mode was interesting to get all other files and directories
away. But if you don't have any m3us at all it is of course rather
useless.

And then we have the id3-tags. Linus have outlined a UI based extremely
on those. Again. With no or bad id3-tags this type of UI might be
useless.

I'd suggest that we for the short term go for a UI based on the
file system contents and only use id3-tags for information while
playing.

I think Daniel already have outlined a UI-vision, in an earlier mail
to the list, that we could start from. Maybe it just needs to be
written down and checked in so that it is available for all to see.

On the other hand: On my most wanted list is actually the
while-play-menu with functions like pause, forward, rewind, next song,
previous song etc. I could live with the dir-UI for now.

Yours
