The record from analog source looks really useful. Is this implemented in the open source project? Not yet I think?

I have had zero problems with my Archos. There are some limitations in the factory firmware (hence the Rockbox project!), but overall the product is sturdy and very well made. I *think* that Service Pack 6 for NT4 addresses USB support, but I'm not 100% sure. I know MS promised it, but I don't remember if they ever delivered. (Even if not, Mandrake 8 works fine under VMWare...) I have had no problems with long files - I have some mp3s on mine that are30 minutes long, and it seems to play them just fine. One nice thing about the Recorder is the ability to record straight to mp3 from an analog source (e.g., cassette) and split the file into pieces at the press of a button, on the fly. (The Archos simply annotates the filename with an incremented number and continues recording.) I took a long time before I bought an mp3 player to replace my original Rio, and I think the Archos is the best one out there. Hope that helps. Thanks for the answers to my questions. Not sure whether I can buy a unit from Europe - often there are limitations on where companies will sell to. I was thinking of http://www.funmp3players.com , however they probably has a US adapter. Also, I have another problem ... I run Windoze NT4 and therefore have no USB. Is there a way around this? I guess I could set up a linux box. Lastly, how does the AJBR handle looong files, like say 45 minutes long, recordered at 40kbps? These are cassette tapes made into MP3's with just speech (eg. no music)? Can the message be paused say halfway thru, the player turned off, then restarted at the midpoint again? Thanks again.
