Regards Rune :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Linus Nielsen Feltzing (linusnielsen) Date: 2002-02-06 10:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=259137 The normalize functions requires the player to scan the entire waveform to find the audio peaks. To normalize the output is theoretically possible, but would require the entire MP3 file to be scanned in advance to find the peaks. This will cost time and battery. To normalize the input, the waveform would have to be recorded, scanned and encoded afterwards. This can be difficult, since the MP3 encoding is done by the MP3 chip on the fly. The firmware woiuld then have two choices: 1) Record the audio uncompressed, then scan and compress to MP3. 2) Record the audio compressed, uncompress and scan, recompress again. In either case, the MP3 encoding will probably have to be done in software, since the MP3 chip is a player/recorder chip, not a generic codec. However, nothing is impossible... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=439121&aid=513672&group_id=44306 Received on 2002-08-09 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
