Summary: Preferences+hold - implementation ideas

Initial Comment:
The Real Time Clock chip in the Recorder has 44 bytes of RAM that is backed up by the batteries. The
contents survuves a power cycling, but not a battery change.

It would be nice to store info (e.g. FAT table offset, File offset) of a song there for a mid song resume even
across on/off. 44 bytes might not be long enough for the entire directory/file path, but certainly good
enough for the offset info. Might have to figure out whether or not this info should be made invalid after
running USB hard drive mode as the user might play around with defrag. :) This is nicer than trying to
write it to hard drive as there are possibilities of data corruption (Write cache etc...) writing just prior to
powering down the drive.

It would be nice if a more permanent copy of the user preferences (i.e. volume setting etc.) is saved on
hard drive so that you don't have to reset that every single time you have to replace the battery. This copy
is only needed if the non-volatile RAM contents for preferences are corrupted.

Anyone reading this ??

The latest release uses the RTC for storing settings.
