My point is that you don't need a third mode if you set the timeout long
enough.

If we use two timeout settings, one for battery operation and one for
charger operations, we don't need names or modes. If we only have two named
options, I can assure you that people will file reports on the "timeout
being too long" _and_ "timeout is too short". People have different opinions
on this. Why not give them a way of setting the timeouts themselves and
spare us from trouble?

The "ext" is my customer's (Siemens) silly way of telling the world that I
don't work there, I am simple consultant. And they have a central management
of all mail accounts (Exchange) so I can't change my name or return address
when I send mail from work.
