Subject: RAM limit

RAM limit

Hi!

Question (maybe a little bit off-topic): Is there someone playing with
enhancing the RAM of the Jukebox (you know, opening and soldering)? I
mean, we all know that 2MB is not _that_ much (f.e. for 200+ song titles
in the list to sort :-)), other players have 8MB to save battery power
(well, to make the device smaller by using smaller batteries). The SH-1
supports up to 16 MB of DRAM, so even if it's a hard and dirty job, one
could enhance/replace the memory using additional DRAM modules (f.e. by
piggy-packing them on the one already there). An additional address
decoder will be necessary, too.

I should start discussing this topic after I opened my AJB6 for once but
maybe there is already someone out there yelling "Hello, I'm here, watch
my project: '16MBing the AJB'" or "Forget it, after a long research I
found out it won't work out due to power issues, space issues, address
decoding issues and firmware issues". Note: Warranty issues are a
motivating factor instead of a show-stopper for me. :-)

Thanks,
- Matthias
