Compiling

Hi all I have been using the daily builds for some time and been very
impressed with the pace and quality of develompment. I would like to
contribute in some way but have only programed in Delphi pascal up to now. I
have thought of learning C for some time and this project may make me finaly
do just that. So i installed
    * binutils-2.11.tar.gz (find it at your closest GNU FTP site)
    * gcc-3.0.4.tar.gz (find it at your closest GNU FTP site)
    * (optional) gdb-5.1.1.tar.gz (find it at your closest GNU FTP site)
that went well downloaded the latest daily tar, unpacked and ran make in the
tools dir per the docs on CVS
"6. *ploink*. Now you have got a Makefile generated for you. Run 'make' and
soon the necessary pieces from the firmware and the apps directories have
   been compiled and linked."

7. Copy the archos.mod file to your archos, reboot it and *smile*.

but i get no archos mod? many .o files a archos.bin and a archos.elf
please tell me what I did wrong.
