I recommend using the rockbox code because it simplifies a lot of
things. Especially it offers many lcd related functions that are ready
to use. No need to reinvent the wheel. You'll find out that it's more
difficult to get the building process up and running than making a new
menu entry and insert some pixel-drawing-Hello-World-code there. Maybe
the patch with the "wormlet" game can help you because the patch itself
shows directly how to insert a new menu entry.
