Rockbox mail archiveSubject: LCD lighting optionsLCD lighting options

Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 17:11:17 -0700 (PDT) I have some qualms about how the backlight works in both rockbox and the archos firmware. Essentially, its applied bluntly to whenever you press a button, but I don't think this is the optimal setting. When it's light out, for example this is obviously unnecessary, or, if it's dark but you only want to see the track progress, which takes 2 seconds, you may have the light on for 10 seconds depending on your settings. In another case, something might catch your attention and just when it's getting interesting (say the track is changing, which is what you're watching) the light goes off. My proposal is to just have a backlght button. Simple enough I think: press once to turn it on, once to turn it off. I'm not quite familiar with the F2+buttons assignments, but it could be maybe F2+play for example (that has the connotations of 'play the backlight...') Also, for us people who have to suffice on little battery on long plane flights for example, perhaps turning off the LCD altogether might be another option (hold down the backlight on/off button...) What does anybody think? -Doug __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
