Just my personal opinion:

- I don't want to press a button to switch the backlight on
and then the button for the function I wanted.
- If you want only the backlight going on (e.g. to see what song is
playing), press F2 on recorder (no function yet, but backlight goes
on), or go into menu and leave the menu. For me it's very rarely
that I want only the backlight going on. So this "workaround" is ok
  for me.
- The backlight only uses 30 mA. If it goes on and I could see the
display without the backlight this time, it only costs me a very
little percentage of the battery capacity.
- I usually don't play games with my AJB. If so, I could turn the
backlight in the menu "continuously on". And if I don't, my personal
setting of 20s would be enough.

To summarize: I like the backlight going on/off as it is now. If the
behaviour changes, I would at least have the option to make it behave
at is works now.

Bye, Uwe.
