I think the idea of having a .rockbox in the directory is neater - for one
thing I regenerate my playlists using dir/b/s *.mp3 > file.m3u every time I
load mp3's onto the Rockbox.
The eq (and optional shuffle) settings are logically tied to the mp3 files
themselves, so IMHO should live in the same directory.
You could even have a WPS option in there, for those problem mp3s which are
not yet id3'ed
