It seems from my experience that on my recorder at least, the battary life
is not quite as good as the stock firmware...

But, I exclusivly use Rockbox now just for the 'shuffle all' feature, not to
mention the geeky :) debug screen games, FAST FAST FAST playlist loading and
more....

of course with Rolo I can load the stock firmware if i need long battary
life...

maybe the battary thing applies to the player as well????
