count of how many tracks have been played, but on the old firmware it
referred to the position of the song within the playlist which was much
easier to remember so that the song could be removed from the playlist at a
later date.

This is why I only use pre-shuffled playlists, and so fervently look forward
to being able to browse and goto a track in the playlist...

I get the impression that many people don't pre-shuffle, but instead use
shuffle mode on an ordered playlist. I'm not sure I understand the
incentive - if you ever, ever stop that shuffle, the order is gone
permanently, right? Do you just not care if you re-hear some tracks later
(in a subsequent playlist shuffle) at the expense of unheard tracks?

Regarding my 'shuffle all' listening (other random choices notwithstanding),
my intent is to eventually go through the entire pre-shuffled list, and when
I'm done, that means I go back to the well and rejuvenate the entire jukebox
(from the larger computer collection).
