Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 09:43:52 +0200 Well for Rockbox it should not be a problem since it scans for a primary vfat partition (in fact the only constraint is that your main vfat partition remains a primary partition). So your small ext2 partition can be set as another primary partition or embedded in an extended partition. If you plan to have more than one vfat partition, Rockbox will only use the first one it encounters so be careful about the order of your vfat partitions.
