I guess the only I'll have to do is to edit the ID3 tags with an editor to
get rid off those nasty unicode characters...

And very probably happens in all other versions of RockBox as well.

Looking at your sample file, the ID3 information is saved as 16-bit
unicode characters, which is currently unsupported (at least as far as
I could see).
