I apologise, I didn't mean to completely reject the idea.

Let me clarify: I like the idea of configurable keys. But it *is* a complex problem and I want it looked at from a design perspective too and not just the actual key hooking.

Take the recorder ON button as an example. In WPS, release of the ON button is used to go to the dir browser, unless another key was pressed while the ON key was down, or if the ON key was held down for > ~500ms.

How do we make this type of thing configurable, while keeping a clean design? How would the code in WPS change?
