Yes, it's only a little bit tricky if you want to have the time of the
song or something like this that changes every second on the display.

Sure, electrical protection is necessary, but as the µ-controller
"knows" when to expect data, a wrong button press on the remote can be
handled by the controller (perhaps just wait and buffer it until data
transmission finished)
