Some say part of the problem has been the writes to/refreshing of the LCD screen.I do not know if this is true, but if it is, I was wondering if being able to turn off the screen altogether when you are planning to listen for an extended time might, therfore, be a good idea. My Clie has this facility when using the mp3 part of it, in this case it is in order to improve the battery time as powering the colour screen and playing mp3's greatly reduces battery life. The function when used puts the unit into hold mode, turns off the screen but allows the remote to control the basic functions.
