High performance mode keeps the cpu more busy and communicates with
the MAS chip more frequently. Maybe that alone is not so much of a
problem. But while the jukebox is loading data from disc and
bitswapping it, this 'steals' precious time from these tasks. That in
turn makes the disc spin longer than necessary - which I consider much
more problematic than the additional power consumption of the peak
meter itself.
I haven't done real measurements how much this affects the life span
of the batteries. Any volunteers?
