High performance mode keeps the cpu more busy and communicates with the MAS chip more frequently. Maybe that alone is not so much of a problem. But while the jukebox is loading data from disc and bitswapping it, this 'steals' precious time from these tasks. That in turn makes the disc spin longer than necessary - which I consider much more problematic than the additional power consumption of the peak meter itself. I haven't done real measurements how much this affects the life span of the batteries. Any volunteers?
