Here's a detailed description of my recording test:

Test 1;
Line-In, 48KHz, stereo

1st try
Start recording, red led comes on and stays on, meters move extremely
jerky, after about 30 seconds *PANIC* Timeout: 0, RECORD.MP3 is
corrupt

Restart Archos

2nd try
Same settings as 1st try, red led comes on and goes of, meters move
jerky every now and then. red led does not light up at all. Quit
recording 6 minutes after start. red led comes on and goes off. Hit
OFF again.

Resulting file is 2220 KB and shows lenght of 1:34 in archos, Winamp
shows file as being 1:50 long, 162 kbps and 32 KHz. at 1:08 into the
file there is a gap of 1 second where and playback exits at 1:10


Test2:
Line-In, 48KHz, mono

1st try
Start recording, red led comes on and stays on, meters move extremely
jerky, after about 45 seconds *PANIC* Timeout: 0, RECORD.MP3 is
corrupt

Restart Archos

2nd try
Same settings as 1st try, red led comes on and goes of, meters move
jerky every now and then. red led does not light up at all. Quit
recording 3 minutes after start. red led comes on and goes off. Hit
OFF again.

Resulting file is 2596 KB and shows lenght of 2:12 in archos, Winamp
shows file as being 3:02 long, 115 kbps and 32 KHz.File plays
correctly.

deleted RECORD.MP3

3rd try
Same settings as 2nd try.. red led comes on and goes off, meters
move jerky. After 30 seconds red led comes on and 12 seconds later I
get
*PANIC* Updating reserved FAT entry 0

Restart archos
There is a 0KB RECORD.MP3 file which when played from archos makes
the archos lock up. Led starts flashing fast and stays that way until
I restart the archos.

REMOVED RECYCLE BIN AND RESTORE (windowz features)

4th try
as 3rd try, red led comes on and goed off. Leaving the recorder
running for approx 18 minutes... (3 tracks on MD) during recording I
do not see the led come on once.. after 18 minutes I hit OFF and get
*PANIC* Updating reserved FAT entry 0

restart archos
Run Norton DiscDoctor shows disk is OK
Reformat just to be sure

5th try
as 4th, red led comes on once at approx 1:45. After three tracks on
the MD have played (again approx 18 minutes) hit OFF twice. Resulting
file is 2200 KB, Winamp shows file as being 2:35 long, 116 kbps and
32 KHz. at 1:44 into the file the recording skips to the last 50
seconds of the recorded track3, all data between 1:44 and and 50
seconds before the end is not there...

Enough testing sofar.. lemme know if you need more info..
