Date: Tue, 03 Dec 2002 22:18:37 -0700 well, I hate to bug the list, but it seems I have exhausted my other options... I ordered a toshiba mk4018GAS 40G hard drive. I formatted it with partition magic on my pc, removed my old hitachi drive, and put the toshiba in my archos. plugged in the archos via usb, hooked up the old drive to the pc. copied over some files. disconnected. powered up, booted today's rockbox build. smooth. super quiet. unplugged the usb, put the cover back on the archos. powered it back up. drive fails to spin up. it reports: hd register error sc1 (85) 128 sn1 (170) 128 sc2 (170) 128 sn2 (85) 128 i open it back up again to check the connections. everyhing seems to be hooked up properly, so I put the old drive back in. to my surprise, it spins up first time. i remove it, put the new drive back in. same error. thoughts/suggestions?
