I went looking for one I had seen at a good price that was Optical to Coax
converter both ways, and I ran across an actual A/D converter for $40.

It's at www.partsexpress.com and the P/N to search on is 180-970
Is this junk? Or has anyone used this with any success? I was wondering if
there would be any noticable improvement in recording quality.

Of course the 180-961 at the above retailer is very inexpensive ($16.75)
converts optical to coaxial, but I'm assuming there isn't a quality issue
there and it would be a go/no-go affair.
