Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 06:28:39 -0800 (PST) Well, I finally found some time to work on the remote control I mentioned some time ago. I have the unit passing all 6 commands to my AJBR20 and it responds as expected to single button presses. Thanks are due to Tjerk Schuringa, creator of the original REMOCON clone, and the authors of Rockbox for providing most of the information necessary to implement the device. I've got the hooks in place to modify the baud rate to compensate for the wider-than-needed tolerance of the PIC's internal oscillator, but haven't yet implemented a mechanism for the user to change it. That said, my development '508A works fine with the nominal oscillator value. According to my calculations, a couple of coin cells should last well over a year, maybe two, but I haven't measured the current consumption yet, that's something I'll check shortly When I'm happy with the design, I'll make it available for others to use. I do have a couple of questions: 1. I'm using a repeat rate (when a button is held depressed), of about 144ms. The VolUp and VolDn buttons work well with this setting, but the Next and Prev buttons skip many songs, rather than switching to FF or REW as do the buttons on the unit itself. This is true of Rockbox 1.4 and Archos 1.27d code. Would someone who has the Archos remote tell me what it does when the Next and Prev keys are held down? 2. Are there any other functions made available using the Archos remote? __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
